mselect is looking to hire a Maintenance Support Engineer for an international oil and gas operator in Erbil, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 15 years of experience in maintenance management systems within operations, maintenance, reliability, or asset management in the Oil & Gas sector. Fluency in Kurdish, English and Arabic is a must.

Job Purpose
The Maintenance Support Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing maintenance systems, processes, and strategies, at the site, to help transform into a world-class, reliability-centered maintenance organization. The role focuses on driving efficiency, digitalization, and data-driven decision-making to maximize equipment uptime, reliability, and operational performance across all surface facilities in Kurdistan operations by implementing Asset Integrity Management strategies and tools. The role requires the optimization of Maintenance and Reliability operations through a strong understanding and working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.

Key Responsibilities

HSSE, Asset Integrity & Compliance:
  • Promote, develop, and maintain a strong HSSE culture, ensuring all maintenance activities align with the client’s HSSE policies, procedures, and life-saving rules
  • Safely deliver against all HSSE, Production, Maintenance & Support Engineering KPIs
  • Ensure strict compliance with HSSE, Asset Integrity, and Process Safety standards, including adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices
  • Support incident investigations and Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFA) to enhance safety and reliability
  • Actively participate in safety audits, hazard identification (HAZID), and risk management programs to drive continuous improvement
  • Drive a proactive, zero-incident mindset across maintenance and reliability functions
Maintenance System Development & Optimization (Assets):
  • Lead the implementation and enhancement of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to drive efficiency, data integrity, and performance tracking across assets
  • Update PMR’s working alongside companies’ reliability team
  • Development of material assignment to ensure availability for planned maintenance tasks
  • Standardize work management processes, including planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance activities
  • Develop a digitalized performance monitoring framework, integrating CMMS with predictive analytics tools
Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) & Predictive Maintenance:
  • Drive the transition from traditional corrective maintenance to risk-based maintenance (RBM) strategies
  • Assist in the development and execution of preventative maintenance programs based on OEM recommendations, risk-based maintenance (RBM), and reliability-centred maintenance (RCM) strategies
  • Implement Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) programs to optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies across oil and gas facilities
  • Leverage data analytics to enhance failure prediction and asset performance management
Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement:
  • Establish and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for maintenance effectiveness, reliability, and asset performance under the framework utilising the CMMS system
  • Monitor and track maintenance KPIs including Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), schedule compliance, backlog levels, and wrench time efficiency; generate detailed performance reports for management
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce OPEX and increase production Uptime
Technical Leadership & Change Management:
  • Act as a key change agent, championing maintenance excellence and reliability culture across operations.
  • Train and mentor maintenance, operations, and engineering teams on best practices in maintenance and reliability management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with HSE, integrity, and operational goals for assets.
  • Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and maintenance cost reports

Requirements
  • Vocational (depending on experience) or Degree educated (Mechanical, Electrical, or Reliability Engineering preferred)
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or equivalent certification is highly desirable
  • 15+ years of experience in maintenance management systems within operations, maintenance, reliability, or asset management in the oil & gas sector
  • Strong knowledge of CMMS, RBM, RCM, and CBM methodologies
  • Proven experience in maintenance digitalization, data analytics, and technology-driven optimization within major projects (operational readiness) and facility operations
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), with the ability to configure, optimize, and analyze data to drive maintenance performance
  • High proficiency in integrating maintenance practices with reliability tools such as Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), Risk-Based Maintenance (RBM), and Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM)
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical data sheets, OEM manuals, and failure modes to design robust maintenance strategies
  • Strong capability to interpret complex data and performance indicators such as MTTR, MTBF, backlog, and schedule compliance
  • Skilled in utilizing digital tools and analytics platforms to diagnose systemic issues, uncover trends, and recommend cost-effective solutions
  • Passion for continuous improvement, process optimization, and reducing operational risk through actionable insights
  • Clear and concise communicator capable of translating technical insights into practical action plans for field teams and leadership
  • Adept at building trust and buy-in across maintenance, operations, engineering, inspection, and IT teams to implement systemic change
  • Proven ability to lead training, deliver workshops, and mentor personnel at various competency levels
  • Resilient and proactive change agent, capable of challenging the status quo and fostering a culture of reliability and HSSE accountability
  • Works well in cross-functional and multicultural teams, particularly in field-based rotational environments
  • Able to drive initiatives forward with minimal supervision while keeping stakeholders informed and engaged
  • Highly organized, with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic field environment
  • Capable of aligning short-term operational needs with long-term strategic goals around asset integrity and maintenance maturity
  • Practical mindset and strong field experience to ensure solutions are implementable, auditable, and sustainable
