mselect is looking to hire an Instrument & Electrical Engineer for an international oil and gas operator in Erbil. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 - 8 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry. Fluency in English and Kurdish is a must.

Role Summary
Professional/Technical role. This is the fully competent position for the Instrument & Electrical Engineer within the Facilities Engineering Team. An experienced professional applying proficient instrumentation and electrical engineering knowledge of the job area typically obtained through a combination of advanced education and relevant industrial work experience.

Key accountabilities
  • Performing engineering review of proposed new equipment designs to assess statutory compliance, code compliance, operability, reliability, ease of maintenance, and availability of replacement parts. Designing, participating, directly supervising, inspecting, and guiding the installation and commissioning of new equipment
  • Supervising, commissioning, reviewing, and guiding the physical installation of Instrumentation and Electrical systems in any area of the Company operations and offices
  • Participate in the investigation and analysis of Instrumentation and Electrical topics for the purposes of root cause analysis, reliability, maintenance, operability, and commercial drivers

Incumbent specific accountabilities
  • Authors and reviews Scopes of Work and Technical Specifications for tenders, service orders and activities for both routine operations and company projects. This may be entire scopes of work and/or sections relevant to Instrument and/or Electrical
  • Act as technical resource for Production and Maintenance Teams to provide assistance with resolution of topics with both existing and proposed equipment. Independently capable to research and find solutions, including involvement of vendors, original equipment suppliers or higher engineering skill sets as required
  • Performs inspections, design reviews and guidance as appropriate to both Company and vendor supplied or proposed equipment. Perform technical investigation & root cause analysis to enhance Company safety, reliability, and operability
  • Immediate familiarity with IEC electrical standards (including Hazardous Area) and statutory requirements for electrical installations in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Basic familiarity with equivalent international electrical standards e.g. NEMA, BS, CENELEC, ISO.
  • Competence in understanding, specifying, and reviewing both pneumatic and hydraulic instrumentation and controls. Assists in planning shutdowns and major equipment turnarounds. Assists in maintenance planning
  • Provides instruction and guidance to less experienced personnel, both engineering and technician level, ensuring the successful execution of projects and operations safely and efficiently. Observes, reinforces, and follows all safety rules, technical standards and procedures
POSITION SPECIFICS
Minimum Educational and Professional Requirement:    
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or an appropriate related discipline required
Essential Requirement:
  •                 Has clear verbal and written skills in English with a minimum of the CEFR: LEVEL-B2. Experience in Oil & Gas or relevant industrial environment
Typical prior experience:             
  • Typically, over 3 years of relevant experience
Information Technology Experience:      
  • Computer literate with moderate skills in spreadsheet, email and word processing

May work on reports designed to give a rudimentary understanding of project economics.
