Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for planning and conducting surveys to detect and map various underground services (electric/instrumentation/telecom/Fiber Optic cables and pipelines) to update Corporate GIS
- Carry out underground service detection using cable locators, scanners, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), etc in oil and gas operational areas
- Carry out survey work using GNSS, Total Station and Digital Level in oil and gas operational areas
- Process survey data after necessary network adjustments and geographic coordinate transformation and prepare survey drawings in AutoCAD
- Overlay surveyed data on existing facility data in ArcGIS desktop software and verified that there are no conflicts
- Collaborate and engage with field personnel in operational areas, Senior Designers and Senior GIS Engineers to identify, locate and map underground and above-ground services
- Carry out data mining, identify and extract data from multi-disciplinary engineering drawings
- Maintain survey equipment and control points
- Responsible for site engineering dimensional checks for ongoing civil construction
- projects to ensure site conditions meet design drawings
- Provide technical guidance for in-house and outsourced projects to ensure survey
- methodologies and procedures proposed are fit for purpose and will produce accurate and relevant data
- Review technical aspects of tenders which relate to surveying and mapping activities, to identify and assess the technical strength of Contractors Participate in tender evaluation committee meetings
- Provide supervision and quality assurance of Contractor field activities related to ongoing projects to ensure that data collection and surveying methodology are being followed while ensuring health and safety requirements
- Review Contractor project deliverables related to surveying and data collection to ensure compliance with Contract requirements
- Maintain survey-related equipment and have an awareness of technological advances in Geomatics to recommend the use of such developments where considered applicable
- Develop and maintain procedures to ensure a standard and quality of all topographical surveying, site engineering and mapping activities
- Witness and advise on LiDAR and other data collection activities carried out by Contractors
- Work long hours in onshore and offshore oil and gas operational fields in hot/cold weather conditions
Requirements
- BSc in Geomatics/Geodetic Engineering/Surveying or Higher Technical Diploma related to Surveying and mapping
- Membership in a recognized professional Institution would be advantageous
- A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in surveying, of which 5 years should be in the Oil and Gas Industry
- Expert-level knowledge of various underground service mapping techniques and their applicability for various ground conditions and utility material type
- At least five (5) years of working experience in underground services/detection and mapping using equipment such as cable locators, scanners, Ground Penetrating Radars, etc,
- Excellent working knowledge of field surveying equipment such as GNSS, Total Station, Multi-station (MS60) and Digital Level
- Ability to understand multi-disciplinary engineering drawings and extract geographic data
- Excellent working knowledge in survey processing data using software such as Trimble Business Center, Leica Geo Office, etc
- Well-versed in using AutoCAD to prepare survey drawing
- Working knowledge of ArcGIS desktop/ArcGIS Pro software to visualize, query and analyze geographic data
- Ability to work long hours in onshore and offshore oil and gas operational fields in hot/cold weather conditions
