mselect is looking for a Diesel Technician for an international oil and gas operator in Basrah. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Diesel technician role, with 3 years in the oil and gas industry. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

Job Objective
Plans and monitor the maintenance and operation of all field Diesel Generators and Diesel Prime Movers. Diagnose, repair and optimize engines to ensure maximum availability and integrity. Carryout preventive and corrective Maintenance according to AOS and Manufacturers standards whilst applying continuous improvement and efficient methods applying safe working practice at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Carryout preventive and corrective Maintenance of Field Diesel Generators ranging from (33Kva-2000 kva) and make Perkins, Cummins, CAT, FG Wilson
  • Maintaining Diesel engines in accordance with AOS and manufacturers specifications
  • Work with skilled multicultural team
  • Participate in planning and execution of all Maintenance activity’s related to field Diesel Gensets
  • Running engine diagnostics tests, analyzing and reporting results
  • Maintain detailed records
  • Champion safe execution of field maintenance at all times
  • Support Diesel Supervisor in implementing and executing maintenance to maximize efficiency
  • Apply safe working practices working to strict PTW system


Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or Diploma from Recognized Institute
  • Advanced knowledge of Diesel Generator package ranging from (33Kva-2000 kva)
  • Mechanical Bios essential including Electrical knowledge
  • 3 years of relevant job experience within the Oil & Gas industry
  • Proven knowledge and experience of Diesel Genset trouble shooting, diagnostics and optimization
  • Working Knowledge of Maintenance strategy’s
  • Experience and working knowledge of Caterpillar, FG Wilson, Cummings, Perkins, and Doosan engines / generator package maintenance
  • Demonstrate knowledge of overhaul, inspection, recording and identifying defects
  • Experience and working knowledge of all systems associated with the diesel engine
  • Excellent Knowledge of engine/generator control panel and ESD protocol
  • Demonstrate and implement safe working practices in line with HSSE and department guidelines
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the assembly and disassembly of individual engine part
  • Carryout inspections followed by detailed reporting to Supervisor
  • Prepare, plan and execute maintenance as per job scope
  • Installation of new or reconditioned parts and/or makes required adjustments to optimize reassembly
  • Champion safe working practices in accordance with AOS HSSE guidelines and procedure
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of PTW and equipment Isolation
  • Excellent Mechanical Knowledge, Electrical knowledge in addition would be an advantage
  • Ability to work in teams
  • In-dept working knowledge of Diesel engine components and workings
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills
  • Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems and relevant electronics
  • Proficiency in the use of Diesel engine diagnostic software
  • Proficiency in the use of mechanical and electrical power tools
  • Positive attitude, willingness to listen and learn
  • MS Office (Excel, Word)
