JOB PURPOSE
The Power Plant Operator will report directly to Shift Supervisor Power, his day-to-day responsibilities will include: Safe operations and troubleshooting of Power Generation facilities, monitoring and modifying Power Generation and Distribution variables, front-line maintenance and aiding maintenance teams in maintenance programs, testing and operating Gas Turbines and Diesel Generators sets and Distribution switchgears.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Actively supports HSE processes by accomplishing daily activities within applicable regulations and policies, carrying out duties in an environmentally conscious manner, following safe operating practices, maintaining a safe working environment, and being prepared to respond to emergencies
- Reports Unsafe acts and/or conditions, no matter in what area of responsibility, so corrective actions can be taken
- Monitor, operate, and maintain Gas Turbine Generators, Particularly Solar TAURUS 60, MARS 100 and Titan 130 gas turbines
- Perform field operational activities for Gas Turbines including all auxiliary systems, Troubleshoot GTG problems and make minor adjustments to keep Generation units on line
- Able to perform field operation for GTG Black start and normal operation to manage Plant power requirements
- Able to perform Electrical HV/LV distribution switchgears switching, isolation and deisolation as required
- Able to understand and working in Power Management System Like SCADA, DCS and PLC
- Reads and records daily data from the GTG, completes required paperwork (e.g. equipment logs, Energy readings ...etc.)
- Able to work with Numerical Protection Relays in Alarms/Trips event reading for report trouble to relevant supervisors
- Have a considerable amount of experience in plant commissioning, start up, troubleshooting and normal operation
- Utilizes a Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP) to create Notifications for maintenance works
- Conducts routine check-ups of all equipment and units to ensure the proper functioning in accordance with standard operating procedure and conditions
- Periodical monitoring of GTG running parameters and report abnormal to concern supervisor for corrective action.
- Support to Shift supervisor to issue Permit to Work, initiating Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTOV) clearances and isolations, conducting confined space permit surveys for determining safe work conditions
- Able to make switching and synchronizing programs along with shift supervisor
- Able to monitor and operate Gas turbines, Generators, Generators circuit Breakers, switchgear and Protection system
- Able suggest innovative ideas for continuous development of Power generation system
- Coordinate with the contractor companies and monitor their activities in power generation area as per the procedure, intervene in case of negative observation
QUALIFICATION
- Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical Eng. or Secondary school followed by at least Two -year technical institute education in one of the following specialties: Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics technology
Experience:
- 5 years of overall general work experience in Gas Turbine Generators Units Particularly Solar TAURUS 60, MARS 100 and Titan 130 gas turbines within the oil & gas industry is preferable
- Field-based position with at least 3 years of experience in the GTG and switchgears operations is mandatory
Software:
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office: Excel, Word and Power point and aptitude for learning new software packages
- Computerized Maintenance Management System โ SAP or equivalent
Language:
- English: upper intermediate (verbal & written)
