mselect is hiring a Lead  Pipeline  Engineer for an international oil and gas operator in Basrah. Candidates must have a minimum of 15 years of experience in leading onshore pipeline engineering design and be fluent in English.
 
JOB OBJECTIVE
A successful career as Lead Pipeline Engineer in Oil and Gas industry by effective utilization of Technical knowledge in combination with various software tools related in fully support of Technical Engineering Design, Construction and Management.
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Execute all Pipeline Engineering activities, maintain technical integrity, deliver, and support a strong HSE culture, and work within budget and schedule limits
  • Lead pipeline engineering for the Onshore Pipeline scope and manage a team of pipeline engineers to deliver the pipeline system engineering scope effectively
  • Engineering ‘System’ for onshore pipeline systems, pig trap to pig trap
  • Deliver the FEED, Detailed Design and Follow-on Engineering scope of the pipeline systems including onshore pipelines, spools, structures, and foundations in safe, cost effective and competitive projects
  • Lead task force teams to resolve technical issues at pace
  • Manage delivery to drive design completion, follow-on engineering and ensure integrity in all aspects of the pipeline system design and compliance with the Project Basis of Design and Group Technical Practice to the agreed budget and schedule
  • Ensure all pipeline system project and integrity risks are identified and managed effectively. Deliver the project deliverables for Pipeline Integrity Management System
  • Verify that the installed system meets the design specification, that design intent is delivered construction and commissioning anomalies are risk assessed
  • Provide proactive technical support to site teams to deliver a safe pipeline asset that meets all technical, cost and schedule requirements of the project
  • Review and approve technical queries, deviations, and concessions during Execute Stage. Review and approve design changes
  • To ensure that the overall project is delivered to meet the asset operational needs
  • To participate in all project safety and design reviews as necessary
  • To liaise with the Safety, Operations and Maintenance staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion
  • Co-ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up
  • To provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems
  • To identify any areas of concern with respect to progress and / or quality and recommend corrective actions as required
  • To attend weekly progress meetings and generate issue with area of concern for further action with contractor

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in leading onshore pipeline engineering design Oil and Gas
  • Experience in pipeline design basis, pipeline materials selection & corrosion, pipeline material/coating/testing and installation specifications, pipeline material requisition, technical bid evaluation/analysis and vendor data review, mechanical calculations line pipes and bend material grade and wall thickness, buckling check, spanning and expansion calculations
  • Experience in pipeline crossing analysis and design of crossing supports, pipeline route selection, alignment sheet, trenching / backfilling design, etc
  • Experience in GRE onshore pipeline is an advantage
  • Understanding of the technical limitations of onshore construction techniques
  • Team player, excellent communicator and works inclusively to build consensus and able to drive wise decision making in project time scales
  • Able to assure the quality of the engineering deliverable, attention to detail. Uses first principles approaches
  • Able to quickly react to changing priorities whilst protecting overall delivery
  • Able to performance manage delivery of technical work to achieve quality, cost and schedule goals
  • Familiar with the typical software packages that are used for onshore pipeline design such as CAESAR II, AutoCAD Program, etc
  • Thorough awareness of relevant international Design Codes & Standards (ANSI, ASME, API, ISO, NFPA, IPS, etc.), and standards applicable for Onshore Pipeline in Upstream or Surface Facilities projects
  • Experience working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English language
