mselect is hiring an Investigation and Learning Specialist for an international oil and gas operator in Basra. Candidates must have at least 7 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

Responsibilities and Key Objectives

  • Drive consistent application and continuous improvement in the company incident investigation and learning processes, training and supporting tools
  • Act as the incident investigation and learning subject matter expert (SME)
  • Participate in investigations as SME and help build discipline competence
  • Provide coaching and support to investigators focusing on building local capability in investigator skills
  • Coordinate efforts to provide trained and competent investigators including maintenance of list of trained investigators
  • Owner of content of investigations training materials
  • Perform self-verification to check the incident investigation process is functioning as intended
  • Track progress of investigations against stipulated time frames, periodically sample quality and verify that actions relating to investigation are completed
  • Support preparation of materials for and participate in Operating Department investigation review meetings and Learning Forums
  • Work with HSE TLs and TAs to identify themes and weak signals that require further investigation, audit or analysis Identify when investigations are needed for emerging risk and if tactical interventions if needed
  • Ensure HSE learning's from investigations are appropriately captured and (working with HSE performance management) communicated/ embedded across the company
  • Support annual review of investigations to identify any pattern or trends which may inform future improvement in HSE performance

Essential Education

  • Degree or equivalent in Occupational Health, Safety & Environment discipline

Essential experience and job requirements

  • Experience in conducting investigations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a wide range of people through influencing, coaching and team-working
  • Strong performance, including excellent analytical and organizational skills, along with good attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to distil key messages in a clear and concise manner
  • 7+ years of Oil & Gas industry experience in a variety of roles that demonstrate skills leading to progression
  • A minimum of intermediate computer skills

Desirable

  • Recognized professional certification/qualification in Occupational Safety & Health
