Job Purpose
The Electrical/ Instrument Technician will be responsible to the Maintenance Supervisor for the safe, efficient & cost-effective operation of facilities. They will perform preventive and corrective maintenance duties tasks safely and effectively on electrical and instrumentation systems. The ability to work in and understand the limitations of extremes of weather. Remote site and camp-based position requiring the candidate to work 4 weeks on by 4 weeks off rotation. Work at client owned and operated sites as the business demand requires. Flexibility toward working rotation.
Responsibilities
- Training and mentoring of local trainees. Ensuring traineeโs progress to full competency within their allocated discipline
- Work safely at all times and adhere to Procedures and Policies
- Site focal point for all Electrical and Instrument safety issues
- Will be site Electrical and Instrument Isolations Authority
- Communicate closely with Engineering on technical issues as required
- Production department E&I Commissioning representative
- Required to perform preventative and corrective maintenance duties and tasks safely and effectively on Safety, Instrument and Electrical equipment (>650v Max)
- Maximising the Instrument, Control, and Safety Systems to safely and efficiently contribute to delivering optimum site production
- Test, calibrate and maintain Fire & Gas systems
- Implementing planned maintenance programme directly reporting to Maintenance Supervisor
- Diagnosing and rectifying faults to maximise equipment availability, identify spares requirement and initiate ordering of same. Monitoring and controlling works by vendors/ contractors within his/ her remit
- Maintain the Maintenance Management System including raising and closing work orders
- Raise work permits and communicate planned work to the site authorities
- Attend and input to scheduled meetings, morning/ weekly/ monthly
- Prepare work packs for planned shutdown events
- Contribute and input to the maintenance work schedule/ plan
- Arrange and manage contractors and vendors
- Experience of starting / fault finding and maintaining power generation
DecisionโMaking Authority
- Shutdown all or parts of the production plant when abnormal running or unsafe conditions are identified or are observed
- Responsible for Electrical and Instrument systems within the assigned facility or area
Working and Other Reporting Relationships
- Work closely with all other site personnel
- Ensure production personnel are fully aware of ongoing activities
- Supervise and coordinate traineeโs activities
- Manage and supervise E&I contractors and vendors
- Ensure site supervision is fully briefed on ongoing and planned activities
Supervisory Responsibility
- Supervise activity on Electrical and Instrument systems
- Supervise work in switch rooms and on the DCS / Control system
- Supervision of discipline related visitors, vendors and contractors
- Coach and mentor to trainee E&I technicians
Minimum Educational, Technical Qualifications/ Certifications Required
OND / ONC/ HNC/HND or equivalent
Minimum Professional Experience Required
- Must have previous experience in an E&I dual role with exposure to all aspects of maintenance in oil and gas processes
- Minimum 10 yearsโ experience with oil and gas industry

- A pre-requisite is the ability to communicate in English, both verbally and written
- Experienced in working with Maintenance and Material Management systems
- Industrial training mentor and assessor qualification preferred
- Able to work well within an international and multi-cultural environment
