Mastering Confined Spaces: Theory and Practice

Our Comprehensive Confined Space Training program is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience necessary to safely and effectively work in confined spaces. Over the course of three days, participants will delve into the theoretical principles governing confined space entry and rescue, while also engaging in hands-on activities.

Who is the course for?

The Confined Space Course is for any learner who must enter confined spaces. This could be to carry out work or perform maintenance in a confined space which has limited or restricted means of entry or exit.

The course also covers the entry controller’s duties and responsibilities including equipment checks and monitoring work teams to ensure correct health & safety procedures are followed.

Note: By the end of the Confined Space Course the delegates will have gained sufficient knowledge and understanding to control, monitor, implement procedures, enter, work and exit medium risk confined spaces in a safe and hazard free manner.

• Duties under the regulations, preventing the need for entry

• Risk assessment and hazard identification

• Atmospheric hazards and gases

• Principles and use of gas monitors

• Safe systems of work and permits to work

• Roles and responsibilities

• Communication

• Inspection and application of tripods, winches and fall protection equipment

• Practical exercises and assessment

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), pre-use inspection and safe operation

• Fall arrest systems

• Safe entry/exit

• Emergency procedures

• Theoretical and practical training on escape breathing apparatus

• Implementing procedures for teams working in confined space

• Controlling safe entry and exit to the confined space

• Controlling emergency procedures

• Understanding standard protocols for work in confined space

Learning Environment:

There is a practical element using tools and equipment associated with risk entries. Including Emergency escape sets and working at height equipment. The training will take place in an approved venue or mobile training facility.
