MSELECT is looking to hire a Process Engineer for an international oil and gas operator in Basrah. Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years of experience as a process engineer in oil and gas industry and be fluent in English.
 
JOB OBJECTIVE
To provide reliable technical support through the collection, analysis, interpretation and evaluation of process data in order to optimize and improve plant performance and process safety. Act as the technical authority and focal point for process related issues in oil & gas processing facilities. Take responsibility and ownership for process engineering throughout the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning stages of small projects executed by O&M.
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
 
Key responsibilities:
  • Participate in technical reviews of new projects, facilities upgrade, plant modification etc., including scope of work, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and recommend improvements to meet operational feasibility and safety
  • Participate in the technical workshop and technical reviewing meeting with Contractor and BOC
  • Develop and modify project Conceptual, PFDs & P&IDs
  • Focal point for any design matters related to Central Processing Facility (CPF). Conduct design reviews of CPF with Surface Facility team
  • Analyse capacity bottlenecks in process and equipment using process simulation network models and suggest options for improvement or remedial action
  • Analyse oil and gas handling facilities and gathering systems, i.e., flow lines, pipelines, headers, three phase separation, emulsion treatment, crude stabilization, crude oil de-salting, gas dehydration, gas sweetening, produced water treatment, water disposal and injection, closed drainage & oil skimming, oil storage and water holding tanks, etc for efficiency improvements
  • Design or modify safety shutdown logic, i.e. unit shutdown, facility emergency shutdown, etc. by specifying in detail the process safety requirement
  • Sizing-specification-selection and capacity analysis of various process & rotary equipment such as two & three phase separators, water settling tanks, centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, gas compressors
  • Sizing-selection and capacity analysis of various types of valves & regulators, i.e., level, temperature and pressure control valves, pressure safety/ relief valve, gas regulators, tank pressure & vacuum safety vents, adjustable & fixed chokes
  • Witness or review results of Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), Site Acceptance Test (SAT) and Performance Acceptance Test (PAT) to ensure conformance to standards and requirements
  • Policies, Systems, Processes and Procedures
  • Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner
  • Health, Security, Safety and Environment
  • Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, Peer Reviews, PHSER, Risk Assessment Studies / process safety reviews and incident investigations
  • Comply with all relevant health, safety and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or equivalent
Minimum Experience:
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience as process engineer in oil and gas industry
 
Job-Specific Skills:
  • A broad technical knowledge base, coupled with multi-disciplinary depth of skills in production processes i.e., process simulation software and all applicable technical standards
  • Critical analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Capacity to effectively prioritize and execute multiple tasks
  • In depth knowledge of industry, regulatory guides and codes
  • In depth knowledge of process engineering methodologies and tools
  • Possess good written and oral communications and presentation skills, and have a thorough of industry practices and regulations
  • Good team member and forthcoming to support the section with additional task requests as necessary
  • Proactive and positive attitude willing to closely follow up and push issues to a successful resolution
