Job Purpose
The job purpose of a Senior Manager - Reporting & Budgeting - revolves around overseeing and managing the financial reporting and budgeting processes within an organization. The job purpose of a Senior Manager - Reporting & Budgeting is to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of financial reporting practices while effectively managing the budgeting process to support strategic decision-making and financial performance objectives within the organization. This role requires strong leadership, analytical skills, attention to detail, communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of financial principles and accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting Oversight:
- Lead the preparation, analysis, and distribution of accurate and timely financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies and procedures in financial reporting practices
- Review financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement
- Coordinate with accounting teams to reconcile accounts, resolve discrepancies, and maintain the integrity of financial data
- Manage the annual budgeting process, working closely with department heads and senior management to develop comprehensive budgets aligned with strategic objectives and financial targets
- Coordinate the collection of budget inputs, assumptions, and forecasts from various departments and business units
- Analyse historical financial data, market trends, and business projections to develop realistic and achievable budget targets and assumptions
- Conduct financial analysis and forecasting to support decision-making processes and strategic planning initiatives
- Develop financial models, scenarios, and projections to evaluate the potential impact of business decisions, market changes, and economic factors on the organization's financial performance
- Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to optimize resource allocation, cost management, and revenue generation strategies
- Define key performance indicators (KPIS) and metrics to measure financial performance, budget adherence, and operational efficiency
- Establish tracking mechanisms and reporting tools to monitor KPIS and variance analysis against budgeted targets and benchmarks
- Identify areas of improvement and implement corrective actions to address deviations from budgeted plans and financial goals
- Communicate financial results, budget updates, and analysis findings to senior management, department heads, and key stakeholders in a clear, concise, and timely manner
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their financial reporting and budgeting needs and provide support and guidance as needed
- Build strong relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, regulators, and financial institutions, to ensure transparency and compliance in financial reporting practices
- Identify opportunities to streamline and optimize financial reporting and budgeting processes, systems, and procedures
- Implement best practices, automation tools, and technology solutions to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness in reporting and budgeting functions
- Continuously assess and evaluate the effectiveness of existing processes and controls, and recommend improvements to mitigate risks and enhance financial governance

Information Security responsibilities:
- Comply with Information Security Policies
- Be aware of and fulfil their information security responsibilities
- Ensure whoever handles sensitive company information has taken the Security Awareness Training
- Know how to report a security incident (to IT ServiceDesk or InfoSec)
- Do not disable his/her OS firewall and/or Antivirus
- Restrict use to authorized purposes, protect access accounts, privileges, and associated passwords
- Accept accountability of his/her user accounts and maintain confidentiality
Requirements
Education & Qualification:
- Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or a related field
- Master's Degree: finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field can be advantageous
- Experience and Skills: Industry Experience (No of years - 7 to 10 years plus)
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards (e.g. GAAP, IFRS), and regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in financial analysis techniques, budgeting methodologies, and variance analysis
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make data-driven recommendations
- Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet software (e.g. Microsoft Excel) and financial management software
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
- Strong leadership abilities, with the capacity to lead cross-functional teams, priorities tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to maintaining the integrity of financial information
