mselect is looking to hire a Well Intervention Supervisor for an international oil and gas operator in Erbil, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 15 years of experience, including workovers and well intervention operations at a supervisory level. Fluency in English is a must.

Job Purpose
The Well Intervention Supervisor’s role is to provide well site supervision for all well service activities and completion/workover operations to ensure the objectives are delivered safely, cost-effectively, without damage to the environment and in full compliance with the company’s policy. The Well Interventions Well Site Leader will be the company’s in-field representative for rigless well intervention operations (wireline, coiled tubing, stimulation and well testing). The position will be field-based and rotational. He/she will work closely with the various company stakeholders and with the contractors and service companies to ensure the safe and successful implementation of all completion and well intervention operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Health, Safety and Environment:
  • Leader of the wellsite team with overall responsibility for conducting well operations in a safe and efficient manner
  • Identifies high-risk situations, documents them, and adopts a risk mitigation approach
  • Participates in HSE and non-conformance event investigations and reporting as required
  • Focal point on location for emergency response
  • Ensuring all well intervention personnel carry out their activities in accordance with HSE standards and expectations
  • Monitoring compliance with all statutory and company standards and procedures
  • Auditing both the activity and management systems of all completion and well intervention service providers
  • Ensuring maintenance of all completion and well intervention equipment in accordance with the technical integrity standards and auditing for compliance with legislative requirements
2. General:
  • Provide input to well-designed intervention programmes and operations and logistics planning
  • Coordinates well operations with contractors on site to ensure compliance with the approved well programs in line with company procedures
  • Ensures well control event preparedness
  • Supervising the safe and efficient implementation of all well intervention programmes
  • Monitoring all well site personnel and material movements to ensure that there are no delays to the programme
3. Reporting and Liaison:
  • Ensuring accurate and timely reporting of all completion rig and well intervention site activities
  • On-site well services and service company monitoring and first-level cost control/approval
  • Perform contractor audits/oversights to ensure service providers are working to their own standards (SOPs)
  • Well-site incident reporting and investigation
  • Liaison between the rig/well site team and office-based groups
  • Capture and reporting of lessons learned, after-action reviews and end-of-well reports Team Building and Personnel
  • Developing team building across the entire team to create and promote a culture of openness, involvement and participation
  • The incumbent will be responsible for coaching/training local staff in equivalent positions
  • Responsible for checking all equipment and tools on site after delivery to ensure readiness (QA/QC, Certifications and other relevant documentation)
  • Assist when required with rig operations, including supervision, reporting, and related activities
4. Communication:
  • Daily calls and communication with the WS Superintendent in town
  • Prepares Daily Reports during all WI operations (DWR)
  • Prepares Daily Cost Tracker during all well intervention operations (DCR) and other relevant daily reports
  • Documents within 24 hours any failure or incident report (in Beacon, where access is possible)
  • Discusses program changes with the WS team, being proactive in improvement suggestions
  • Initiates the Management of Change (MOC) process when required and communicates the issue to the WS Superintendent

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Preferably have a qualification degree in Petroleum Engineering or a similar technical or scientific discipline
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience, including workovers and well intervention operations at the supervisory level
  • PC Literate—working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Must be able to work with a team, take directions from WS Superintendent(s), and focus on attention to detail
  • Must be self-motivated and capable of working with limited direct supervision
  • Must be capable of completing and tracking multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must have a track record of recent experience as a Workover, completions, and well intervention supervisor
  • He/She must have a good understanding of best industry practice on supervising well integrity during completions, workover and rigless operations
  • High H2S environment
  • Level 4 IWCF certification: wireline, coiled tubing & completions
