Role synopsis
The Senior Workover Engineer will report directly to the Workover Engineering Lead. The position is responsible for supporting the role to deliver complex, challenging, but safe workovers by providing effective engineering solutions for the workover team to deliver the field development plan. The Senior Engineer will work closely in a multicultural environment that requires daily liaison with Workover Team Leaders and Desk Engineers, Drilling and Well Services, local and international service providers, and third-party contractors and provide engineering support to the subsurface team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engineering experience, expertise and leadership to the Workover Department
- Be the team focal point to lead by example as part of the Senior team with a strong commitment to HSE
- QA/QC and attention to detail will contribute directly to enhancing the highest standards of workover/completion programmes generated by the Workover Engineering Team
- QA/QC of all pre-job technical calculations within Programs under their Team
- Daily engineering and troubleshooting support to Workover/Completions Operations, including but not limited to Water Shut-offs/zonal isolation, ESP Installation, Water Injection, TCP Completions, Wellbore Cleanout, Cased Hole Fishing, and Well Integrity repair/intervention
- You should ideally be a subject matter expert or ‘SME’ in one workover or completion sub-discipline that will enhance the Workover Team
- You will provide offline training and mentoring of local and junior staff engineers
- Liaise with Service Providers and Contractors about Workover and Completion inventory and equipment needs, that are aligned with short- and long-term Rig/Well scheduling and planning
- Prepare, conduct and represent Workover Engineering at multi-disciplined pre-job meetings
- Conduct QA/QC of EOWR and other technical reports as required
- Conduct engineering post-job reviews with Workover Rig contractors and service companies to define engineering and performance improvements
- Provide technical and engineering support to Workover Operations site staff
- Bring recommendations for operational improvements, plus implement optimization and efficiency opportunities
- Self-starter and minimum supervision role, with Experience in a busy office environment
- Participate in Quarterly Contractor Performance Reviews
- Support the Engineering Team Lead in developing and managing technical training programs to cover all the requirements of the Workover and Completions Work functions
- Manage the engineering trainees and their training programme
Requirements
- BSc Engineering or equivalent Secondary Technical Degree
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in oil/gas Environments in a similar role, and have a proven track record within the Industry
- Extensive Experience with land rig Workover and Completions
- Show track history of operations and examples of Engineering support, including scheduling and planning
- Good communication and mentoring skills are required to be commensurate with the above job role
- Fluids and Hydraulics Software
- Log Interpretation
- Strong English language skills required
- Demonstrate knowledge of the oil industry
- Strong team player and mentor
- Experience in managing third-party contractors
- Aptitude to innovate and open to new ideas
- IWCF/IADC Well Control certified to Level 4
