mselect is looking to hire an Operations Superintendent for an international oil & gas operator in Basrah. Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years of CPF operations experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role. Fluency in English is a must.

JOB OBJECTIVE
As an operations superintendent you will be responsible for ensuring that the production field operations run in a safe and efficient manner. The operations Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring production requirements are met, and the facility is operated in a safe, efficient and compliant manner. This is a front-line operations role that will respond to unplanned events, work independently, and make technical decisions and recommendations to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of the facility.
  • Provides direct leadership and oversight of the conduct of operations and conduct of maintenance resources of the facility. Provides direction to operational and maintenance supervision, schedules shift resources and manages staffing issues. Provides leadership for and development of direct reports. Embraces human performance improvement initiative
  • Assures that plant operations and maintenance personnel comply with safe work practices and processes, comply with plant procedures and efficiently and effectively operate and maintain the plant equipment. Develops procedures, checklists and performance measures to monitor process controls to ensure that all regulatory requirements are fulfilled within staff. Maintains operational procedures and system descriptions
  • Directs, plans and coordinates plant operation, maintenance, planning/scheduling, stores and staffing to meet site production needs
  • Manages day-to-day plant operations and maintenance planning and execution
  • Focus on the collaborative development (in conjunction with Operations Services Functional Groups) of operations management systems, standards and procedures; including HSE, Production and Maintenance, in accordance with ISO international and Company standards
  • Provide leading operations guidance to ensure that budgeting, risk management, production planning, sparing and maintenance strategies are effectively implemented in line with company standards
  • Facilitate the development of Field Production and Maintenance national staff in accordance with the Company Competence Assurance & Assessment Plan in conjunction with the operation section head and Training Manager
  • Facilitate a co-operative working arena within the Field Business Unit and other functional support groups
  • Remain current with knowledge and understanding of industry operating standards, practices and technology
  • Supervise and support the Production Engineering team, optimization and design, daily production allocation and production accounting, process facilities optimization, debottlenecking, regulatory support, and workover opportunity identification
  • Manages plant operators and technicians
  • Compliance with all applicable regulatory, policy, and internal engineering standards
  • Collaboration with support teams for technical assistance
  • Maximize efficiency and operating capacity of the plant
  • Troubleshooting plant process & equipment problems and implementing solutions

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management:
  • Work closely with contractors, internal and external stakeholders
  • Pre-Operations and document development experience essential
  • Operational and Project experience preferred
  • Experience of working in an Engineering Office Environment
Health, Security, Safety and Environment:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE management policies, procedures and controls within own area, monitoring, reviewing and evaluating on a continuous basis, and a responsible environmental attitude
  • Leading by example and develop a strong safety-first culture within the own and (sub)contractor workforce
People & Contractor Management:
  • Manage the activities and work performed by Contractors and Suppliers and ensure that it is carried out in an efficient and effective manner. Build good relationships with key stakeholders
  • Recommend training and development for team members to build their capabilities
  • Contribute to knowledge dissemination/sharing in a way that assists with building internal capabilities of employees
  • Develop overview of contractor’s strength and weaknesses and intervene as and when required exercising contractual rights
Policies, Systems, Processes and Procedures:
  • Contribute to the development and implementation to support an efficient and effective operation
  • Ensure compliance with corporate requirements on adherence to policies, procedures and instructions within own area related to all relevant regulatory directives to promote a safe and risk-free environment
  • Improvement of systems, processes and practices

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in engineering
  • Relevant managerial qualification is desirable
  • Emergency Management & Control Competent
Minimum Experience:
  • 8+ Years CPF exposure with 3 years in supervisory position
  • Track record in international Oil & Gas Operations management
  • Experience within oil/gas field operations, drilling operations, well completion and work-over, reservoir management, production engineering, production operations, well intervention and field management in remote locations, managing multi-national operations teams
  • Experience with plant upgrading and general process optimization
  • Experience with commissioning of new onshore production facilities/ assets, wells and transmission pipelines, gathering systems and wellheads
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively
  • Ability to drive and achieve desired results within the defined time duration
  • Ability to interact with internal and external customers in a multi-cultural environment
  • Presentation skills essential
