Job Purpose
Reporting to the Utility & Interface Lead and working under the Early Work Package Leader during the Early Works execution phase, the Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for coordinating, validating resources, monitoring, and supervising all piping construction activities within the assigned area at the worksite. The role ensures strict compliance with HSSE, quality, and technical contractual requirements by the EPC Contractor and all subcontractors on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Regularly inspect construction sites to ensure adequate manpower and resource allocation
- Ensure compliance with local codes, regulations, and safety standards
- Enforce safety precautions and quality standards on site
- Provide technical support and resolve construction issues as they arise
- Verify that all work follows approved scopes, technical drawings, standards, and specifications
- Maintain effective communication with other discipline supervisors and managers to ensure site readiness, including underground works (drainage, water supply, etc.)
- Provide daily productivity reports to the management team
- Issue ‘STOP WORK’ orders immediately if any safety hazards or risks are identified
- Apply working knowledge of plumbing systems, water supply networks, drainage, and relevant engineering fields such as sewage and water treatment plants
- Ensure all work is performed by qualified and experienced labor to avoid accidents and substandard installation
- Conduct regular inspections and quality control checks to meet installation standards
- Coordinate inspections and tests with other supervisors and support pre-commissioning activities
- Follow up on completion and clearance of all punch list items
- Review and endorse red-line and “as-built” drawings
- Participate in handover, acceptance, commissioning procedures, and start-up activities
- Demonstrate exemplary behavior regarding HSE, ethics, and the company code of conduct at all times
Key Activities
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams
- Apply knowledge of underground and above-ground drainage and pressure piping systems for hot and cold water
- Accurately read and interpret construction drawings
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions
- Plan work activities, ensuring availability of tools, equipment, and materials
- Exhibit strong leadership with sound knowledge of industrial and commercial building services
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 5 years in a similar Mechanical/Piping supervisory role
- At least 10 years of overall relevant professional experience
- Solid understanding of commercial and industrial piping systems
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Native-level Arabic and fluent English (spoken and written)
- Previous experience in the oil & gas or energy sector is an advantage
