Job Summary
The job holder is responsible, within the project team and under the Early Work Package Leader, and reports to the Utility & Interface Lead during the Early Works execution phase for coordinating, validating resources, monitoring, and supervising overall construction activities within the assigned area as carried out by the EPC Contractor and its subcontractors at the worksite. Also, the role ensures that all HSSE, quality, and technical contractual requirements are properly implemented by the EPC contractor and subcontractors on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspecting construction sites frequently and ensuring that manpower and resources are adequate
- Familiarity with local codes, regulations, and safety standards
- Guaranteeing and implementing safety precautions while also ensuring that quality standards are met
- Provide aid during construction to resolve any technical issues arising
- Ensure the scope of work and technical drawings are implemented and that all work conforms with standards and specifications
- Maintain close communication with all other discipline supervisors and managers to ensure site readiness for commencement of installation, including below-ground works such as drainage, water supply, etc
- Prepare and provide daily productivity status to the management team
- Will not hesitate to issue ‘Stop Work’ when witnessing a potential hazard or risk that could cause harm to themselves, their co-workers, the environment, or the equipment
- A working knowledge of the fundamental requirements of plumbing systems, water supply networks, waste and drainage systems
- A working knowledge of other engineering fields, such as sewage treatment plants, water treatment plants, etc
- Ensure work is carried out by a qualified and experienced labour force to avoid any accidents, poor installation standards, unsafe practices and such
- Conduct regular inspections and quality control checks to ensure all installations meet the required standards
- Check, inspect and test; completed project work in close coordination with other discipline supervisors; and arrange appropriate pre-commissioning inspections and tests
- Ensure and follow up on the completion and clearance of all Punch List items
- Review and endorse red-marked-up and "as-built" drawings
- Participate in handover and acceptance, review commissioning procedures and participate in the commissioning of facilities and start-up
- The jobholder is also accountable for demonstrating, individually, exemplary behaviour regarding HSE, ethics and “code of conduct”
Key Activities
- Collaborative work with other professionals working on the projects
- Working knowledge of the installation of underground and over-ground drainage and pressure piping for cold and hot water service
- Be able to read and correctly interpret construction drawings
- Must be able to work outdoors for an extended period
- Plans required work activities to ensure that tools, equipment, and materials are available
- Exhibit strong leadership skills and have sound knowledge of industrial and commercial building services systems
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering or any other related field
- Mandatory experience in a similar position: 5+ Years
- Professional experience: 10 years minimum
- In-depth knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical systems
- Advanced troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural business environment
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Language: Arabic as mother tongue and Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
- Previous experience in a similar work environment will be an added advantage
