mselect is looking to hire a Mechanical Supervisor (HVAC) for an international energy client in Basrah, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of experience, including at least 5 years in a similar role. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

Job Purpose
Reporting to the Early Work Package Leader and the Utility & Interface Lead during the Early Works execution phase, the Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for coordinating, validating resources, monitoring, and supervising all construction activities within the assigned area, as performed by the EPC Contractor and its subcontractors at the worksite. The role ensures all HSSE, Quality, and Technical contractual requirements are fully applied on site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect construction sites regularly to ensure adequate manpower and resources
  • Ensure compliance with local codes, regulations, and safety standards
  • Enforce safety precautions and verify quality standards are met
  • Resolve technical issues arising during construction
  • Verify that all work conforms to the scope, drawings, standards, and specifications
  • Coordinate with other discipline supervisors to ensure site readiness, including underground works such as drainage and water supply
  • Provide daily productivity status reports to management
  • Issue “STOP WORK” orders when necessary to prevent hazards or unsafe practices
  • Oversee plumbing systems, water supply networks, waste, and drainage systems
  • Possess knowledge of related engineering fields (e.g., STP, WTP)
  • Ensure work is performed by qualified and experienced personnel
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks for compliance with required standards
  • Test and inspect completed work in coordination with other teams
  • Follow up on the completion and clearance of all Punch List items
  • Review and endorse red-marked-up and “as-built” drawings
  • Participate in handover, acceptance, commissioning, and start-up procedures
  • Demonstrate exemplary behavior in HSE, ethics, and code of conduct

Key Activities
  • Collaborate with professionals across disciplines
  • Oversee installation of underground and above-ground drainage and pressure piping
  • Read and interpret construction drawings accurately
  • Work outdoors for extended periods when required
  • Plan work activities, ensuring availability of tools, equipment, and materials
  • Lead teams effectively and apply knowledge of industrial and commercial building service systems

Requirements
  • Qualification: Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years in the field, including 5+ years in a similar position
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of commercial and industrial electrical systems; advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Languages: Native Arabic speaker with fluency in English (speaking and writing)
  • Previous experience in a similar work environment is an advantage
