mselect is looking to hire a Maintenance Supervisor for an international oil and gas operator in Basrah. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of experience, of which 5 years in the general maintenance department of large oil fields. Fluency in English is a must.
 
JOB OBJECTIVE
  • The maintenance Supervisor manages and coordinates the day-to-day maintenance and repair of equipment under the responsibility of the General Services Department. They will oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the camp facilities maintenance technicians and identified third-party service contractors
  • It is the responsibility of the Maintenance Supervisor to assess hazards, determine risks, conduct regular inspections, and maintain a safety program
  • The Maintenance Supervisor shall have relevant experience in a maintenance and construction environment as well as appropriate health and safety knowledge and training
  • Responsibilities include ordering equipment that is necessary for the tasks at hand, scheduling delivery of the equipment, and reviewing the equipment budget to ensure that there are no cost overruns. You should also be able to train and mentor field staff
  • To be successful as Maintenance Supervisor, they should manage the work schedules of the field staff, adjust them as needed, tracks service requests and ensures requests are complete within established timelines and quality standards. Schedules and ensures competition of preventative maintenance
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervising workers, subcontractors and work activities
  • Preparing and presenting site inductions, safety briefings and toolbox talks
  • Assessing and managing safety hazards
  • Ensuring appropriate site rules and welfare facilities are in place
  • Carrying out regular inspections
  • Helping project managers to plan the work program
  • Helping co-ordinate deliveries of materials, plant and equipment
  • Completing records for site reports
  • Attending site management meetings
  • Carrying out regular inspections to ensure compliance with relevant legal requirements, processes and procedures
  • Raising safety concerns at the appropriate level
  • Resolving problems and implementing improvements
  • Organizing and overseeing external inspections, such as with a health and safety inspector
  • Providing emergency first aid if required
  • Other responsibilities assigned by the line manager
 
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
 
Project Management:
  • Work closely with contractors, internal and external stakeholders
  • Operational and Project experience preferred
Health, Security, Safety and Environment:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant HSSE management policies, procedures and controls within own area, monitoring, reviewing and evaluating on a continuous basis, and a responsible environmental attitude
  • Leading by example and developing a strong safety-first culture within the own and (sub)contractor workforce
People & Contractor Management:
  • Manage the activities and work performed by Own team, Contractors and Suppliers and ensure that it is carried out in an efficient and effective manner
  • Build good relationships with key stakeholders and support field coordination
  • Recommend training and development for team members to build their capabilities
  • Contribute to knowledge dissemination/sharing in a way that assists with building the internal capabilities of employees.
  • Develop an overview of the contractor’s strengths and weaknesses and intervene as and when required exercising contractual rights

  • Contribute to the development and implementation support an efficient and effective operation
  • Ensure compliance with corporate requirements on adherence to policies, procedures and instructions within own area related to all relevant regulatory directives to promote a safe and risk-free environment

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Technical trade or engineering Diploma in either Mechanical, Instrument, or Electrical disciplines
Minimum Experience:
  • Over 10 years’ experience, about 5 years in the general maintenance department of large oil fields
  • Thorough knowledge of the functional area and department processes
  • Experience working with issues in Operations, Greenfield and Brownfield environments
  • Experience working with all Microsoft applications
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively
  • Ability to drive and achieve desired results within the defined time duration
  • Ability to interact with internal and external customers in a multicultural environment
  • Possess good English written and oral communications and presentation skills
