Job Purpose
The FDI Technical Team Lead oversees the maintenance and operation of the Primary Data Centre and six Containerised Data Centres while managing field digital infrastructure projects. Key initiatives over the next 5+ years include large-scale fibre optic deployment, relocation of the Primary Data Centre, and replacement of cooling systems for 7 Containerised Data Centres. The role demands strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities and a deep understanding of telecom services and technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing maintenance & operation of primary data centre & 6 containerised data centres, ensuring critical systems are always fit for purpose
- Responsible for the support and integrity of telecoms towers and masts
- Developing a 5-year roadmap for the field digital infrastructure team
- Preparing request for proposal documents and evaluating bid responses
- Vendor management
- Asset management
- Training & development of engineers/technicians with a view to nationalisation
- Subject matter expert for the upcoming fibre optic project
Requirements
Essential Qualifications:
- University degree-level qualified
- Minimum five years’ experience in a similar role
- Data centre management to include technical knowledge of electrical distribution and emergency/standby power systems, HVAC systems, fire detection/suppression and monitoring/control systems
- Experience of large-scale fibre optic deployments
- Experience writing RFP documents and managing vendor bidding process
- Experience managing & leading technical engineering staff
- Proven ability and drive to coordinate multiple activities
- Good interpersonal skills
- Experience in the oil and gas industry
- English written & oral
- Willing to work a rotation of 28 days on, 28 days off
- Ability to work within a multicultural environment
