MSELECT is hiring an Inventory Controller for an international oil and gas service client in Basrah. Candidates must have at least 5 years of experience in inventory management. Fluency in English, and Arabic is a must.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Inventory Management

  • Assist to inspect shipments and incoming material before receiving, to ensure that it is up to specifications and is clear of defects, rejecting and returning substandard materials to suppliers, recommending corrective actions to prevent similar future occurrence
  • Collaborate to ensure productivity targets are met and optimum inventory turnover is taking place, reducing overall warehouse costs and improve cash flow for the company
  • Observe how to minimize overstock situations and recommend solutions for dealing with obsolete, old, and redundant materials to maximize availability of working capital

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Participate in the sourcing and selection of Parts suppliers (e.g. shipping and custom clearance companies) to ensure the quality, quantity and type of supplier deliverables and services matches company’s needs
  • Conduct negotiations with Parts suppliers to ensure the company attains its requirements with best-fit prices, lead-times, and terms and conditions
  • Communicate with external parties (e.g. customs authorities and/or shipping agents) to verify customs requirements and negotiate shipping costs and times
  • Address and resolve disputes with Parts suppliers without compromising the integrity of company’s reputation, maintaining and building mid to long-term relationships

Reporting and Relationship Management

  • Liaise with operational managers throughout (e.g. warehouse, parts, or sales) to coordinate scheduled inventory management and control activities with their operations
  • Provide forecasts, analysis, and reporting of gross margin, inventory levels, turnover, and shrinkage/loss/damages
  • Develop regular reports (e.g. expense report, Inventory report, IN/OUT status report, dead stock report, goods age report, etc.) to keep management updated on a regular basis

Safety, Health and Environment

  • Direct compliance to all relevant safety, health and environmental management policies, procedures and controls in order to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance and responsible environmental behaviors
  • Oversee the resolution of escalated non-compliance to policies and procedures in order to foster a safety, health and environment culture, mitigate risks, and protect company’s interests
  • Oversee the application and improvement of all relevant safety, health and environmental management related policies, procedures and controls
  • Participate in incident and accident investigations as required in line with agreed safety, health and environment policies, procedures and controls
  • Report on changes within AGC that impact relevant safety, health and environmental management policies, procedures and controls

Policies, Processes and Procedures

  • Assist the development and oversee the implementation of Operations policies, systems, processes, procedures and controls so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering high quality and cost-effective results
  • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement through adapting to changes in international standards, changes in the business environment and adoption of leading practices

People Management

  • Help instils a culture of development, guidance and performance within Operations
  • Lead, guide and evaluate a team of unit heads
  • Provide development opportunities to the team and ensure career paths and succession plans are charted out
  • Empower team members to take business decisions by effectively delegating authority
  • Identify and recruit key senior talent for Operations
  • Set and communicate clear performance expectations, coach and provide support and regular feedback to Finance unit heads on performance
  • Act as a role model to champion company's values to employees

 

Required Experience

4-6 years of experience:

  • Previous Inventory Management experience is preferred
  • Previous Supplier Relationship Management experience is preferred
  • Previous Quality Control Processes and Programs knowledge and experience is preferred
  • Previous Supply Chain Management or Logistics experience is preferred

Education:

A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent is required
