Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Accountant to oversee and manage all financial and accounting operations at our Erbil headquarters. This is a senior, full-time, on-site role and a critical part of our boutique operations. The selected candidate will handle the company’s complete accounting cycle, including ERP operation, cost reporting, inventory valuation, tax preparation, and financial planning. The accountant will be expected to prepare detailed reports for both Kurdistan and Iraq governmental compliance and support the executive team with transparent, timely, and accurate reporting. The role requires complete confidentiality, trust, and integrity in handling financial records and systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Manage full-cycle accounting for the company including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and financial closing
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure accurate reporting in line with local (Kurdistan Region and Iraqi federal) tax and compliance laws
- Liaise with auditors and regulatory bodies as required
- Maintain proper documentation and submissions for both Kurdistan Region and Federal Iraq taxation authorities
- Ensure full compliance with financial regulations including VAT, AML, and tax declarations
- Maintain and update the ERP system with accurate financial, inventory, procurement, and sales records
- Ensure real-time reflection of all transactions and operational movements
- Reconcile ERP data with physical inventory and cash flow reports
- Manage inventory valuation and costing procedures with precision
- Track and reconcile the movement and valuation of high-value items (e.g. gold, diamonds, gemstones)
- Coordinate with the operations team to align cost tracking with procurement and pricing policies
- Collaborate with the executive team on budget creation, forecasting, and margin monitoring
- Monitor inventory ageing, sell-through performance, and return-driven liabilities to optimize cash flow and inventory health
- Conduct channel-specific profitability analysis (retail vs e-commerce), including operational overhead, CAC, and repeat purchase rate
- Support campaign ROI analysis and marketing attribution through data-linked ERP reporting
- Prepare and analyze advanced retail performance metrics, including CAC (Customer Acquisition Cost), ROI (Return on Investment), CLTV (Customer Lifetime Value), and gross margin by product line
- Track financial KPIs across physical and e-commerce sales channels, providing insight into seasonal fluctuations, conversion costs, and profitability
- Provide monthly executive dashboards summarizing operational efficiency, sales-to-inventory ratios, marketing spend impact, and return policy performance
- Support the CEO in analyzing monthly cost performance and cash flow alignment
- Deliver reports for financial KPIs across retail and e-commerce channels
- Ensure all documentation, system records, and financial logs are maintained in a fully auditable structure
- Prepare detailed handover documents in the event of resignation or transition
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (mandatory)
- Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a luxury retail or inventory-based business
- Strong command of ERP systems (Odoo preferred)
- Proven ability to manage complex accounting independently
- Knowledge of regional financial regulations (Kurdistan + Iraq)
- Excellent Excel and reporting skills
- Fluency in English is required; Kurdish and/or Arabic is a plus
