JOB PURPOSE
To manage and ensure the accuracy of the financial records and processes. The accountant will be responsible for financial reporting, maintaining general ledgers, performing reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and analyse financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
- Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately
- Perform month-end and year-end close processes
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts
- Process accounts payable transactions, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices
- Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing clients and following up on outstanding payments
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions
- Ensure compliance with local financial regulations and standards
- Prepare for and assist with internal and external audits
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard financial assets
- Monitor and analyse expenses to ensure they align with budgets and financial policies
- Prepare expense reports and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures
- Manage travel expenses and ensure accurate reporting
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement
- Provide financial data and insights to support decision-making by management
- Prepare financial reports and presentations for the Accounting Manager and senior management
- Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax regulations
- Manage tax payments and ensure accurate reporting of tax liabilities
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations
- Utilize accounting software to manage financial records and transactions
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data within the system
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA) is a plus
- Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Fluency in English, Kurdish and Arabic is a must
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and record-keeping
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse financial data and provide insights
