Job Summary
The QA/QC Engineer will drive both quality assurance and quality control across all phases of oil and gas projects—from FEED to commissioning. The role ensures that all materials, processes, and deliverables strictly adhere to industry standards, company procedures, and client specifications. Also fosters continuous improvement and helps embed digital transformation into QA/QC workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance (QA):
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and QA/QC procedures
- Administer the project’s quality management system and meticulously manage all quality documentation, including checklists and manuals
- Conduct internal and external audits to ensure alignment with ISO, API standards, and relevant regulations
- Provide ongoing training on QMS and QA/QC procedures to field staff and contractors
- Support supplier quality assurance, including supplier reviews, audits, and coordination of vendor documentation and quality plans
- Oversee site inspections for fabrication, welding, piping, structural components, and related activities to verify compliance with standards
- Enforce Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) protocols—such as UT, RT, MPI, PT—and confirm compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and welder qualifications
- Manage and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)—including initiation, root-cause investigation, corrective action, and closure
- Maintain site documentation, including punch lists, as-built records, mechanical completion certificates, and turnover packages, for compliance verification purposes
- Implement thorough risk assessments tied to materials, processes, and equipment—champion mitigation efforts
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of inspection findings, NCR statistics, and CoPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) metrics
- Facilitate continuous improvement, analyzing QA/QC data for trends and driving efficiency gains
- Lead the move toward paperless inspections, mobile-based checklist platforms, cloud storage, and digital reporting dashboards
- Explore automation technologies and data-driven feedback systems to optimize inspection workflows
- Collaborate seamlessly with discipline engineers, procurement, project management, and subcontractors to ensure QA/QC alignment
- Act as the point of contact for QA/QC matters with clients, inspectors, authorities, and stakeholders
- Mentor junior QA/QC personnel and guide subcontractors to maintain consistent quality standards
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, civil, or Petroleum) or equivalent
- 10+ years of QA/QC experience in oil & gas or related heavy industries
- Proven proficiency with NDT methods, WPS/WPQR, and inspection protocols
- Familiarity with standards and codes such as ISO 9001, API (4G, 5CT, 6A, etc.), and relevant national regulations
- Experience leading audits, managing NCRs, and sustaining supplier quality programs
- Excellent in documentation, reporting, and training
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience or openness to digital QA/QC tools is highly advantageous
