Key Responsibilities
- Manage overall contracting process with suppliers/contracts from the tendering process to the contract award to the contract close-out
- Ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled, risks are mitigated, and company interests are protected
- Work closely with the procurement department, legal manager, and contract managers to prepare contracts and purchase orders related to various business support functions (i.e. engineering, drilling, operations, HSE, construction projects, EPC, FEED, other goods/services, etc)
- Coordinate with legal, procurement, finance, and technical teams to ensure contract requirements are aligned with company policies
- Understand and prepare contract amendments or variation orders, extensions of time, claims, and disputes, and resolve issues amicably and reasonably
- Support tender bid preparation and evaluation phases, ensuring contract terms mitigate risk and align with project objectives
- Support in preparing ITT/tender documents that will impact contract terms and conditions, and participate in contracting strategies
- Support the procurement department by providing contractual guidance
- Review tender process documents and ensure contract technical and commercial terms and conditions are properly reflected in the contract
- Mitigate contractual and commercial risks
- Develop contracts (engineer contracts) that reflect Company business objectives and the departments that will manage the contracts (for example drilling, production, field services, engineering, HSE, finance, HR) including project milestones, delivery schedules, acceptance of works, warranties, payment terms, etc Clearly outline company and contractor roles and responsibilities in contracts Support department as they administrator and manage contracts
- Prepare contracts that minimize risk exposure for the company, ensure business objectives are being met, and maximize commercial outcomes through proactive contract development and commercial negotiations
- Develop standard contract templates with support from the legal department
- Ensure compliance with internal processes, corporate governance standards, and regulatory frameworks (including local content and environmental requirements)
- Work closely with the procurement and legal departments to maintain contract records, trackers, and prepare reports for management regarding key contract status and issues
- Guide and support junior contracts staff, and contribute to continuous improvement of the contracting procedures
- Support team when ad-hoc requests/deliverables are needed
Requirements
- Meets the job description requirements above
- Degree in a related field or certification in contract management
- Knowledge of contract law and oil and gas industry-standard contract forms, terms, and conditions
- Liaise with legal, procurement, finance, and technical teams for aligned decision-making
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, Commercial mindset
- Strong understanding of contractual liabilities for the company/contractor
- Responds to management requests and deadlines on time with accuracy
- Works under pressure
- Deliver results and improve the process
- Language requirements: English required; Arabic and Kurdish are preferred
