Road Accident with Dangerous Goods
What You’ll Learn
This VR training immerses you in the aftermath of a road traffic accident involving a truck, guiding you step-by-step through the correct procedures to follow immediately after impact. Developed by industry experts, including NEBOSH-certified HSE professionals, this scenario-based training builds the skills and confidence required to manage accidents safely, calmly, and in full compliance with safety protocols.
Key learning outcomes include:
Understanding how to remain calm and composed during high-stress situations
Executing the correct immediate response steps, such as stopping the engine and securing the scene
Placing warning signs to alert other road users
Checking the condition of the other driver and assessing damage to both vehicles
Inspecting the cargo for displacement, leakage, or hazards
Communicating clearly and promptly with your dispatcher or coordinator
Documenting the scene, including taking photos of the vehicles and surroundings
Maintaining professional conduct during interaction with other parties involved in the accident
This training ensures drivers are not only operationally prepared, but also mentally equipped to handle road incidents responsibly and lawfully.
The Scenario
The simulation begins just moments after your truck has been rear-ended by another vehicle on a rural road in the early morning. You’ll take control immediately, beginning with:
Stopping the engine and activating hazard lights
Leaving the vehicle safely and placing a warning triangle to secure the scene
Checking the physical condition of the other driver and visually inspecting both vehicles
Evaluating your truck's mechanical status and the condition of the load
Using a radio or mobile device to inform your dispatcher or emergency contact of the incident
Taking photographs of both vehicles, licence plates, road conditions, and any contributing factors
Ensuring all key actions are completed before waiting for further instructions or roadside assistance
The training provides realistic audio and visual feedback, ensuring you gain hands-on familiarity with correct accident response procedures in a controlled, repeatable environment.
