Role Synopsis
Focal point for the specification, technical assurance, coordination, and management of Wellheads and Christmas Trees (WHXT) Responsible for WHXT selection in application wells and their wide range of well types Ensuring WHXT selection remains appropriate and cost-effective for the well types in an evolving field environment Using experience and technical knowledge to manage existing WHXT systems across the field and ensuring that new WHXT equipment supply will interface with existing systems The individual will have broad knowledge of well operations with a focus on WHXT design, deployment, and maintenance, with demonstrable experience in WHXT project management for large volume projects, OR a background in WHXT QAQC, manufacture, assembly, and engineering The individual will have excellent interpersonal skills as this role interfaces with all Teams within Wells, Procurement, and Supply Chain Management, suppliers, and Leadership roles in A technical background is mandatory with either experience as a Wellhead SME in an Operator or in a technical and project management role in a major supplier
Key Responsibilities
- Technical planning: Technical focal point for WHXT across the Wells Department. This includes but is not limited to managing, forecasting, and planning WHXT deployment, provision, and refurbishment for re-use across the field. This scope includes new equipment, refurbishing used equipment, and coordinating the interface with legacy equipment to ensure efficient use of inventory.
- Procure equipment: Focal point for WHXT supply and services tendering, working in the Wells Engineering team.
- Continuous improvement: Review performance of suppliers and develop continuous improvement plans for service and for in house scheduling and strategy.
- Inventory management: Key role to develop supply and interface strategy given the complexities of the current deployed inventory, undeployed inventory, and future supply.
- Operational analysis: Ensure all WHXT supplies are compliant with evolving specifications and policies and provide assurance that the supply strategy will continue to be compliant with policies.
- Design optimization: Focal point for periodic technical design and review of WHXT with input from the Wells Teams.
- Wells catalogue: Maintain a register of deployed WHXT and key interface limitations.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering or a relevant technical bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of ten years of technical experience for WHXT
- Minimum of three years of experience in a project management role for the provision of WHXT
- Previous experience in WHXT management with a preference for large volume projects (200+ WH and XT installations per year) or technically complex projects (subsea wells or offshore platforms) Must be able to demonstrate a key role in allocating wellheads, overseeing their installation, and managing the coordination/project management
- Experience of a key role in competitive tendering for WHXT supply contracts
- Demonstrate understanding of key components and common weaknesses in the manufacture, supply, and coordination of large volume WHXT supply
- Mandatory knowledge of key industry standards and good practice about wellhead manufacturing and supply
- Preferably, an engineering or technical background
- Mandatory experience of working on land operations, preferably experience in the Middle East
- Strong interpersonal skills and a good communicator with fluent English language skills (written and spoken) and preferably Arabic
- Broad experience and knowledge in drilling, workover, and well intervention with respect to wellheads and XT
- Preferably experience with a range of WHXT systems, manufacturers, and suppliers
