mselect is looking to hire a Public Relations Officer for an oil and gas operator in Maysan, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in government liaison or public relations roles, which is highly preferred. Fluency in Arabic is a must; English is a plus.

Job Purpose
The individual is responsible for representing the company in communications with the public and government departments to enhance the company’s image. They ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines, maintain positive and professional relationships, and support the oil project compensation process.

Key Responsibilities

Government & Regulatory Liaison:
  • Prepare, submit, and follow up on all paperwork with relevant government departments (licensing, permits, visas, etc)
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Represent the Company during official inspections or meetings
Internal Coordination:
  • Work with HR, legal, and operations teams to ensure government documentation is completed on time
  • Advise management on government procedures, deadlines, and policy changes
Events & Representation:
  • Organize and attend corporate events, exhibitions, and public meetings
  • Represent the company in public forums, trade events, and networking opportunities
Crisis Communication:
  • Manage responses during publicity crises or public concerns
  • Ensure consistent and accurate engagement during critical situations
Oil Project Compensation:
  • Communicates with local authorities to initiate and/or follow up on crop and land compensation processes
  • Keeps record of crop damage or land usage by the Company

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Law, Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience in government liaison or public relations roles is highly preferred (minimum 3 years of experience)
  • Native-level proficiency in Arabic, with advanced English and Kurdish language skills is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of local laws, government procedures, documentation requirements, and compensation process
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills in both written and spoken forms
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Public speaking and networking abilities
  • Proficiency in computer skills and MS Office tools
