mselect is seeking a General Manager for an Aerospace & Defence manufacturing client in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Candidates must have a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience. Fluency in English is essential.

JOB PURPOSE
We are seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager to lead our client’s factory in Abu Dhabi. The GM will be responsible for overseeing the overall operations, driving growth, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and enhancing the company's market position. This role requires a leader with a deep understanding of the wire harness, cabling & interconnect manufacturing sector, particularly aligned with the client’s specialism of defence and aviation, coupled with strong business acumen and the ability to manage complex operational processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and execute the company’s strategic plan to achieve growth, profitability, and operational excellence
  • Provide visionary leadership to ensure the company maintains a competitive edge in the aerospace & defence industry
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government entities, manufacturers, contractors, and private-sector clients

Operations Management:
  • Oversee the factory’s day-to-day operations, ensuring production efficiency, quality control, and timely delivery of products
  • Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance productivity and reduce costs
  • Ensure compliance with all local and international regulations related to aerospace manufacturing standards

Business Development:
  • Identify new market opportunities both locally and internationally to expand the company’s reach
  • Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to increase the company’s presence in the global aerospace industry
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful negotiation and execution of large-scale defence & aviation contracts

Financial Oversight:
  • Manage the company’s financial performance, ensuring profitability and sustainable growth
  • Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial reports
  • Ensure proper financial controls are in place, overseeing cost management, procurement, and pricing strategies

Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Ensure adherence to national and international standards regarding aerospace manufacturing, production and export
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential threats or disruptions in operations and supply chain

Leadership & Team Development:
  • Lead and mentor the senior management team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and performance
  • Develop the company’s talent pool, ensuring succession planning and professional development of key personnel
  • Ensure a safe working environment that promotes health and safety standards

REQUIREMENTS

Key Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a senior executive leadership role, ideally as a GM, CEO, COO, or equivalent in the aerospace manufacturing industry
  • Deep knowledge of wire harness manufacturing processes, regulations, and international markets
  • Strong business acumen with experience in strategic planning, financial management, and operations oversight
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of managing diverse teams and complex stakeholder relationships
  • Proven track record in business development and expanding market presence, particularly in the aerospace & defence sector
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (MBA or equivalent preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience working with multinational companies in the aviation sector
  • Knowledge of international standards and regulations relating to the aerospace, space and defence industry
  • Fluent in English
