Job Purpose
Under the supervision of the Head of the Unit, the Procurement Specialist will be responsible for creating procurement strategies for the Office's capital/operational expenditure.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing and advising on how to achieve the best value for money on key contracts and proposals
- Line management of multiple employees
- Preparing and delivering reports to senior members
- Gathering suitable benchmarks to support their work
- Monitoring purchases across the projects to identify opportunities for savings
- Assisting in the identification and implementation of cost improvement projects
- Providing key market information and contract pricing updates to the Head of the Unit
- Advising other members of the team on applicable procurement rules and regulations
- Recognizing the key tools and templates available for conducting procurement across different projects
- Identify and study the best commercial outcome at each stage of the procurement process
- Comparing the potential supplier proposals for price, quality and other procurement criteria and specifications
- Negotiating with suppliers to secure competitive prices and to reduce spending
- Advising the related project streams on cost-effective ways to comply with contractual obligations
- Negotiating the financial and operational terms of contracts with suppliers
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of experience working in procurement
- At least 3 years in a managerial role
- Experience in leading different types of procurement
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent analytical and document writing skills
- Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to lead and demonstrate cross-functional team management skills
- Ability to priorities multiple tasks, timelines, and stakeholders
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of procurement processes and issues
