mselect is looking to hire a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Materials and Corrosion) for a national oil and gas operator in Doha, Qatar. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of relevant postgraduate experience, of which 6 years should be related to the oil & gas industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Materials & Corrosion Engineering activities and in-house site surveys for projects, from initial concept definition phase through to engineering studies, FEED, detailed design and commissioning
  • Ensures that the required technical framework, including QHSE, environmental and local regulations, assurance practices, engineering standards, personal safety, and process safety policies, is incorporated and followed in work scopes and during Materials & Corrosion Engineering activities
  • Reviews technical deviations and variations from approved guidelines, codes, standards, and practices
  • Supports the Engineering Department in reviewing, updating, and applying relevant standards and amendments to external standards
  • Plan and coordinate activities of a team of multidisciplinary engineers to provide timely delivery of technical services to meet the project requirements
  • Coordinate engineering designs, develop and review multi-disciplinary work-scopes for projects and other engineering activities
  • Ensure the work scope is comprehensive and clear
  • Review and approve method statements developed by contracted organisations for scope compliance
  • Liaise with contracted organisations to resolve technical issues
  • Develop, update and monitor schedules for in-house engineering activities; contribute to external FEED/EPIC scheduling activities; and ensure effective project delivery
  • Conduct an evaluation of technical bid packages for scope compliance
  • Review and evaluate the contract changes/variations to the approved guidelines and practices
  • Supports the development of personal technical competencies and skills, as well as those of co-workers
  • Participates in structured training for associate engineers

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering
  • Chartered/professional engineer status or equivalent is preferable
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant post-graduate experience, of which 6 years should be related to the Oil & Gas industry
  • Ability to identify and utilise relevant engineering standards and Codes related to Materials & Corrosion Engineering
  • Proven ability to manage time, cost and quality in engineering projects within a multiple-project environment
  • Fluency in the English language, with good verbal and writing communication skills, and proficiency in conducting presentations
