mselect is looking to hire a Senior Commissioning Engineer – Rotating Equipment for a national oil and gas operator in Doha, Qatar. Candidates must have a minimum of 12 years of experience in relevant construction and installation activities on oil & gas industry projects. Fluency in English is a must.

Role Summary
  • Mechanical engineering background with experience in commissioning of major Rotating Equipment, including preparing/reviewing specifications of major rotating machinery such as Gas Compressors, HV motors, MV submersible pumps, etc
  • The candidate must have robust experience in FEED and EPIC projects with strong capability to review/approve contractor deliverables
  • Experience in witnessing or conducting FAT, SAT, and string tests of rotating machinery equipment performance tests.
  • Hands-on experience in the Completions Management System software tool
  • Experience in verification of rotating equipment, such as alignment checks, supports, etc.; functional testing of rotating machinery; participation in design/constructability reviews: HAZOP/HAZID, Constructability, etc.; and experience in Operation Readiness, Startup, and handover
  • Excellent ability to interpret and review method statements, inspection and test plans, construction schedules, and drawings; ability to highlight potential bottlenecks/problems, and to suggest solutions

Key Responsibilities
  • Represent the client as the Commissioning Team Leader for all assigned projects offshore
  • Review and comment on EPIC Contractor SOW pre-commissioning, commissioning, and completion activities
  • Lead project pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up engineering support services rendered by outsourced contractors to ensure that all such activities are conducted as per client regulations, project commissioning procedures, and industry best practices
  • Reports to the Head, Commissioning on all commissioning-related matters under execution for successful completion of commissioning
  • Improve client commissioning procedures, initiate and contribute to the commissioning deliverables standardisation
  • Develop a commissioning strategy and commissioning plan, and obtain approval for the same in consultation with the end user and in accordance with Contract requirements and in close coordination with the head of commissioning and EPIC contractor
  • Leadership of the Commissioning Team in the development and arrangement for approval of the commissioning procedures for all systems and facilities
  • Organize and ensure the availability of the Commissioning Team and arrange the required manpower support from the End User and Contractor
  • Develop planning for the commissioning activities and ensure its implementation as per the approved Commissioning Plan and project schedule
  • Detail the activities into required systems and subsystems to facilitate commissioning and start-up
  • Develop and arrange for approval of all commissioning handover checklists and certificates, and coordinate with contractors/vendors to solve system/equipment performance problems
  • Work closely with the project Construction Team, End User, and Contractor to coordinate punch listing activities from the beginning to the end of the commissioning process, including clearance and close-out
  • Frequent long working hours may be required, which include outdoor fieldwork
  • Exposed to a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural environment requiring special coordination and expediting skills, sound interpersonal relationships and effective communication within the client and Contractor Teams
  • Coordinate schedules for vendors' presence/visits at site(s) and on-the-job training to assist in the commissioning of critical equipment and processes
  • Participate and contribute to all safety design reviews and studies
  • Participate in FAT as required
  • Review multidisciplinary engineering deliverables from commissioning approaches
  • Support and assist the project team in the project closeout gate

Requirements
  • BSc (or) BE in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised university with extensive commissioning experience of Oil & Gas projects Good skills in construction management, effective communication, and conflict resolution
  • Skills: Good communication skills, Exposure to commissioning software like ICAPS and similar
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in relevant construction and installation activities in projects of the oil & gas industry. Experienced in the implementation of construction industry best practices, systems, processes, and standards
  • Multi-disciplinary engineering exposure with troubleshooting and problem-solving skills is considered essential for the position
  • Experience in offshore project construction and installation activities is strongly preferred
  • Strong technical experience in commissioning of F&G Systems, DCS, ICS, Power Management Systems, Instrument air, Wellhead Control Systems, etc., in offshore
