mselect is looking to hire a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Pipeline) for a national oil and gas operator in Tianjin, China. Candidates must have a minimum of 15 years of relevant postgraduate experience, of which 10 years should be related to the oil & gas industry. Fluency in English is a must.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical design and engineering services in subsea umbilical and power cable engineering (offshore) for all assigned engineering projects
  • Achieving the technical quality of work by client procedures, whilst considering quality, schedule, cost, and HSE
  • Conduct umbilical and power cable engineering (offshore) activities of in-house site surveys for projects, from initial concept definition phase through to engineering studies, FEED, detailed design, and commissioning
  • Ensure the required client technical assurance practices, engineering standards, environmental and safety policies are incorporated and followed, in work scopes and whilst conducting pipeline engineering (offshore) activities
  • Review technical deviations and variations to approved guidelines, codes, standards, and practices
  • Support the engineering department to review, update, and apply client standards and the client’s amendments to external standards
  • Plan and coordinate activities of a team of multidisciplinary engineers to provide timely delivery of technical services to meet the project requirements
  • Coordinate engineering designs, and develop and review multidisciplinary work scopes for projects and other engineering activities. Ensure that the work scope is comprehensive and clear
  • Develop offshore subsea facilities engineering scope of work and deliverables list for FEED and the detailed engineering stage
  • Review and approve method statements developed by contracted organizations for scope compliance
  • Liaise with contracted organizations to resolve technical issues
  • Develop, update, and monitor schedules for in-house engineering activities; contribute to external FEED/EPIC scheduling activities; and ensure effective project delivery
  • Conduct an evaluation of technical bid packages for scope compliance, to review and comment on package vendor documents
  • Review and evaluate the contract changes/variations to approved guidelines and practices
  • Act as the focal point for technical matters and take a lead role on behalf of the company on matters associated with subsea facilities
  • Work seamlessly with the company’s project team to support the execution of subsea facilities, tie-ins, and systems integrations
  • Ensure the testing program, plans, and procedures for all subsea facilities deliver technical integrity assurance of all system interfaces before shipment for installation
  • Ensure interfaces between project contractors and other stakeholders are effectively managed, including the operations & maintenance department, topsides, and drilling contractors
  • Provide onshore and offshore technical support during onshore and offshore project construction, commissioning, and start-up activities
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to less experienced subsea engineers in the wider organization

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering
  • Chartered engineer/professional engineer status or equivalent is preferable experience
  • 15 years relevant post-graduate experience, of which 10 years should be related to the oil & gas industry
  • Ability to identify and utilize relevant engineering standards and codes related to pipeline engineering (offshore) and subsea facilities
  • Proficiency in the use of pipeline engineering analysis software such as AUTOPIPE, CAESAR, SAGE, Orca Flex, and ABAQUS is desirable
  • Experience in all project phases (i.e., feasibility study/concept optimization, FEED, detailed design, construction, commissioning and start-up)
  • Experience in detailed design of Lateral buckling, walking, crossings, on-bottom roughness, routing, riser and spool-piece design, ECAs, and installation analysis is desired
  • Proficient with typical offshore Pipeline deliverables of mechanical & stress design (pipeline wall thickness, stability, corrosion coating, CP, riser and clamps, End Expansion, free span, crossing, pipeline and riser installation analysis)
  • Experience in subsea umbilical and associated controls systems
  • Proven ability to manage time, cost and quality in engineering projects within a multiple-project environment
  • Good communication and presentation skills with fluency in English
