Job Purpose
The Drilling HSE Advisor will work in a supporting role to the Drilling and CWT Teams in the Kurdistan fields, delivering HSE specialist advisory services, coaching, and mentoring to drilling and CWT line and HSE functional personnel. They are a key element in the delivery of ‘HSE in the line’.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures, alongside the Drilling Superintendent and the CWT Manager, the implementation of ‘living’ risk registers for the work sites within the Advisor’s scope
- Detailed tracking of progress towards completion of agreed risk controls
- Ensures compliance with EIA commitments by the line through assurance coaching and mentoring
- Facilitates (does not lead) scheduled team meetings to track progress on action closure from safety observations and Synergi action
- Manages an HSE assurance programme agreed with line management annually that ensures compliance with HSE policies, standards and procedures; ensures tracking of closure of actions
- The Investigation and Reporting Specialist works in the field alongside line leaders to ensure compliance with the Investigation and Reporting Standard.
- Coaches and mentors are drilling CWT teams on safety leadership principles, allowing the line to lead HSE
- A mentor to the national HSE team members, ensuring that national HSE personnel assigned in the field can undergo the training and competence development required in their development plan
- Works with drilling and CWT teams to ensure compliance with contractor HSSE management standards, including the evaluation of HSE tender submissions, coordination of clarification requests, post-evaluation risk assessments, development of bridging documents, and verification that required pre- and post-training is conducted in accordance with approved bridging requirements
- Intervenes when absolutely required to ensure rectification of immediate hazards with the line. Sole intervention is discouraged unless necessary
- Ensures full compliance with the company’s code of conduct
Requirements
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years in onshore and offshore oil and gas activities
- Minimum of 5 years in an HSE advisory role on drilling and testing scopes
- Degree / HND Qualified in a relevant Discipline
- Sound understanding of HSE risks and controls for exploration drilling campaigns and associated logistics activities
- Identifies and ensures rectification of emerging risks before they impact the project
- Working knowledge of industry HSE standards
- Track record of developing & implementing Contractor HSSE Improvement Plans & Bridging Documents
- Focused on risk management and mitigation activities
- Ability to deliver HSE training and coaching of expatriate and national staff
- Experience in facilitating rig-specific emergency response plans and exercises
- A proactive HSE leader dedicated to ensuring full compliance with company and regulatory requirements
