Key Responsibilities
- As a discipline engineer responsible for the provision of the required quality technical services
- Carry out Concept definition and engineering studies, design, scopes and preparation of engineering documents as per approved standards/procedures
- Verify and sign off on technical designs and bids in accordance with approved standards
- Deliver timely service to meet the project requirements
- Advice and support in the discipline of engineering matters through all stages of projects
- Plan and coordinate activities of a team of engineers for providing technical services to project-executing departments, including review of execution strategies
- Supports the discipline head or lead in managing discipline standards and participates in technical assurance and standardization activities to ensure adherence to approved standards
- Approve/endorse technical deviations/waivers/variations to approved guidelines, codes, standards and practices
- Support to ensure that all applicable environmental, process, and other safety technical policies are fully implemented
- Supports the development of competencies and skills within the area, including structured training for engineers under development
- Coordinate engineering designs, develop and review multi-disciplinary work scopes for projects and other engineering activities. Ensure that the work scope is comprehensive and clear
- Review and approve method statements developed by contracted organisations for scope compliance. Liaise with contracted organisations to resolve technical issues
- Develop, update and monitor schedules for in-house engineering activities, contribute to external FEED/EPIC scheduling activities and ensure effective project delivery
- Conduct an evaluation of technical bid packages for scope compliance
- Responsible for the acceptance of new vendors proposed during the project phase
- Responsible and accountable for the technical integrity and safety of designs
- Requires minimal guidance and instruction
- Work accomplishments are not subject to third-party design checks
- Assess and recommend the technical suitability of Tenderers to perform the work, within the piping/mechanical engineering areas of responsibility
- Assess the suitability of requested deviations from the Company and international Standards and Codes of practice
- Supports talent development by ensuring that team members receive appropriate job training and development, enabling them to reach their full potential and contribute effectively to project success
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; MMUP Grade A certified engineer preferred
- A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in large buildings, infrastructure and civil projects
- Possesses skill and knowledge of international and industry standards relevant to the area of expertise
- Experience in managing time, cost and quality in engineering projects within multiple project environments
- Good communication and Presentation skills, and be fluent in English
- Experienced in the latest relevant design software
- Experienced in resolving technical challenges related to relevant e-Engineering work and adjacent discipline issues
- Ability to prioritise and conclude multiple tasks in a timely manner to meet scheduled deadlines alongside unscheduled urgent activities
- Ability to coordinate with and promote teamwork amongst stakeholders, co-workers and external organisations
- Proficiency in the use of piping/mechanical engineering analysis software like CAESAR-II and drafting software like AutoCAD
- Experience in 3D modelling of piping systems is desirable
