mselect is looking for a Senior Geologist for an international energy client in Basrah, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in seismic interpretation with at least 3 years of experience in geophysical acquisition in wells. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

Context and Environment:
The field Hub Affiliate is tagged as a digital affiliate that will focus on early deployment of digital technologies in the client’s portfolio. The field contains four complex oil reservoirs with both carbonate and clastic deposition and having different fluid properties and reservoir pressures
The senior geologist will:
Work under the direct supervision of the Geology Manager
Work with geoscientists concerning data Quality Control (QC), data loading, and to maintain databases updated
Respect Corporate Data Management rules – Confidentiality, Preservation and Security of data

Main accountabilities:
ACTIVITIES:
  • HSE: Respect and promote the group HSE rules and culture, with a special focus on seismic acquisition and shallow hazards for well drilling. Ensure the adequate level of HSE training
  • Analyze and validate geological data
  • Interpret geological data and participate to seismic interpretation
  • Participate in 2G&R data synthesis, ensure the representativity and consistency of the geological interpretations, contribute to the understanding of the reservoir’s dynamic behaviors
  • Construct static geological models, ensure the consistency of input multi-disciplinary data
  • Ensure the evaluation of in-place volumes and associated uncertainties
  • Participate in the definition, coordination and follow up of geological specialty studies performed in the technical center at the Headquarter and implement their results into geological models
  • Participate in the definition and updates of Field development plan
  • Participate in the preparation and monitoring of development wells
  • Ensure quality, timely delivery and confidentiality of all the documents related to geology
  • Work with data management team, define the needs of data management of geological data. Follow up data loading and cleaning, maintain an up-to-date geological database for interpretation uses by all GSR team members
  • Participate in the preparation of geological reporting, and meeting presentations to authorities or partners

Experiences / Qualifications:
Degree in Geology or Petroleum
Minimum 10 years’ industrial experience in Reservoir geology and field development
Extensive knowledge of regional geology, and geology of reservoir
Some experience on seismic interpretation would be a plus
Open mindset and teamwork: mindset of sharing, communication, and integration; improving through collective efforts with other team members
Ability in developing good relationships within project teams, entities in Headquarter (HQ), partners and authorities
Ability to understand, explain and present complex technical material to both technical and non-technical audiences in a persuasive and convincing manner
Fluent in English language (speaking and writing)
