Role Synopsis
Responsible for supporting Information and Assessments Analyst with relevant information, analysis and products in support of business operations in Southern Iraq.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Production/ Delivery:
- Provide daily support to Information and Assessments Analyst as required
- Assist in the production of routine and bespoke products through the provision of evaluated information
- Daily monitoring of traditional media and social media in Basra and across Iraq to provide a daily synopsis of relevant information to line manager
- Provide timely and accurate reporting of incidents and security activity in Basra
- Provide verbal translation for line manager as required
- Assist Information and Assessments Analyst and other security department members in developing and delivering training for the company’s personnel as directed
- If other dedicated staff are unavailable, produce and update access letters for the company assets and personnel as requested by line manager
- In conjunction with Information and Assessments Analyst, maintain an effective relationship with Community Engagement team
- Maintain a relationship with BOC Follow Up Section for the sharing of information on all relevant issues
- Assist FLOs to manage and develop relationships with the BaOC Commander and staff for the sharing of information related to security threats
- Regular engagement with key Basra International Airport staff on issues related to procedures and movement
- Conduct regular engagement and maintain effective relationships with BOC Security Staff and other Security Staff, including those based at outstations
- Attend the weekly Field Security Management meeting
- Attend other meetings as directed by line manager
- Enable and support VIP visits to HQ, Basra International Airport and other locations as directed by line manager
- Maintain and manage relationship with ISCO staff in Basra and other off concession sites
- As directed line manager, support security in compiling access requests and resolving access issues for Staff and Security Contractors at locations throughout Basra
- Support line manager with timely, relevant and insightful information
- Ability to be ‘on call’ and to work outside of office hours to respond to specific or urgent requests
- Flexibility to support requests from other Security Department members as directed by line manager
- Ability to adapt to changes in work practices and activity
Key Criteria
- Iraqi national – long term Basra resident would be advantageous
- Fluent written and spoken Arabic.
- Excellent written and spoken English – experience in verbal and written translation
- A minimum of two years employment with a foreign commercial entity in Iraq
- A minimum of two years security experience, preferably with an international PSC
- Experience in electronic data management and data input
- IT literate – proficient in the use of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Earth and Outlook
- Strong understanding of western commercial values and risk management principles
- Possession of driving license and access to a vehicle
- Willing and able to travel throughout Basra province on a daily basis
- Willing and able to be ‘on call’ for occasional tasks outside normal working hours
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of diligence, initiative and accuracy with limited supervision
- Excellent presentation skills and confident public speaking
- Detailed understanding local cultural sensitivities, particularly in the area of information sharing
- Previous experience in Oil and Gas industry security or a similar environment is preferable
- Long term experience working within an analytical environment in Iraq, preferably Basra, is desirable
