mselect is looking for a Mechanical Technician Coach for an international oil and gas operator in Kurdistan, Iraq. Candidates must have at least 5 years of relevant job experience. must be fluent in English and Kurdish.

Job Purpose
The Mechanical Technician will be responsible to the Maintenance Supervisor & Manager for the safe, efficient & cost-effective operation of Company. They will perform preventive and restorative maintenance duties and tasks safely and effectively on mechanical, utilities and associated systems and equipment. The ability to work in and understand the limitations of extremes of weather. Remote site and camp-based position requiring the candidate to work 4 weeks on by 4 weeks off rotation.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of allocated asset, static and rotating mechanical equipment and associated systems
  • Implementing planned maintenance programme directly reporting to Maintenance supervisor
  • Diagnosing and rectifying faults to maximise equipment availability, identify spares requirement and initiate ordering of same. Monitoring and controlling works by vendors/ contractors within his/ her remit
  • Conducted isolations and de-isolations within the discipline
  • Ensuring trainee’s progress to full competency within their allocated discipline

Decision–Making Authority
To shut down or make safe any plant or equipment when abnormal running or unsafe conditions arise or are observed.

Working and Other Reporting Relationships
  • Work closely with all other site personnel activities to ensure safe and efficient operational activities
  • Ensure production personnel are fully aware of all ongoing and planned activities
  • Supervise and coordinate trainee’s activities
  • Ensure site supervision is fully briefed on ongoing and planned activities
  • Produce daily and weekly reports. Submit to Maintenance Supervisor

Supervisory Responsibility
  • Supervision of discipline related visitors, vendors and contractors
  • Supervision and training of site trainee’s

Minimum Educational, Technical Qualifications/ Certifications Required
OND / ONC/ HNC/ HND or equivalent

Minimum Professional Experience Required
  • Must have previous experience in a mechanical role with exposure to all aspects of maintenance in oil and gas processes.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with oil and gas industry in a maintenance position

Special Requirements and Conditions
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive and able to demonstrate their ability to work within a small operations team structure
  • A pre-requisite is the ability to communicate in English, both verbally and written
  • Experienced in working with Maintenance and Material Management systems
  • Industrial training mentor and assessor qualification preferred
  • Able to work well within an international and multi-cultural environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • In depth understanding of technical safety practice
  • Understands and respects company HSE regulations and requirements
