MSELECT is looking for a Material Controller for a well-known international oil and gas operator in Basra. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of in drilling and completion related material management. Fluency in English is a must.

 

Job summary

The Material Controller supports the Well Services department in providing day to day supply chain and logistics support, forecasting material consumption, monitoring inventory levels and coordinating movement to and from the warehouse all Well Services related items. Will assist the Planning and Cost Control Section Head ensuring that the Well Services inventory and all movements related to the same, are accurately reported in a monthly/ timely manner.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the inventory team of PSCM to arrange logistics and trucking for all equipment as required according to planned rig lookaheads or operation requirement
  • Act as a focal point between operations personnel, PSCM and contractors for all equipment requirements
  • Review and monitor Well Services activity to forecast material usage and prepare for the same
  • Liaise with external service providers and contractors regarding importation and delivery of equipment and long lead items
  • Act as a focal point for all OCTG, cross-overs and machine shop requirements
  • Prepare purchase request forms and request SAP numbers for all items to be purchased
  • Ensure that all stakeholders have a clear and concise picture about the present inventory level of the Well Services department
  • Provide guidance for correct inventory levels, staged-delivery concepts and best in class solutions for inventory management for both short- and long-term project execution
  • Coordinate and manage transfers between different operating assets
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, security, safety and environmental management policies, procedures and controls within own department and across peer groups
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and company standards & procedures
  • He/ She will strive to achieve KEBL B9 HSSE key performance indicators for the year (KPI’s)
  • Oversee effective data collection, information management and reporting on all well services related activities to support decision making
  • Monitor, analyze and provide guidance for all projects and contracts, providing proactive solutions to all stakeholders
  • Plan and monitor material inventory and consumption through detailed reporting and analysis while always ensuring adherence to yearly planned stock levels and consumption
  • Communicate critical issues to the Well Services Planning and Cost Control Section Head in a timely manner, proposing solutions when and where necessary
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, systems, processes and procedures relative to both Well Services and the Company, identifying potential areas of improvement, to support an efficient and effective operation
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Material Management policies, systems, processes and procedures, identifying potential areas of improvement
  • Help foster an environment of openness, involvement and participation that that all subordinates may benefit from a highly cooperative and interconnected department
  • Build and foster good business relationships with key internal and external stakeholders


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Well Services and Drilling Operations
  • Skilled with various Material Management Systems
  • Strong team player and ability to take the lead on tasks when required
  • Track record of deliverability with Drilling and Well Services
  • Deep understanding of Well Services and Drilling contractual requirements as well as invoicing and financial arrangements related to the same
  • Ability to coach and mentor others


Education and Experience:

  • Degree in Materials/ Logistics/ Mechanics or equivalent; BSc preferred
  • Professional certification or proven experience in material management is preferred
  • Candidate will have considerable experience with the Microsoft Office platform (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook) and be adept at designing templates/ documents based on the same
  • Functional with SAP and other relevant computer applications relative to the position
  • Must be fluent in the English language and able to speak & write accurately & effectively
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in drilling and completion related material management
