mselect is looking for a General Accounting Manager for a healthcare centre in Erbil. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Fluency in English, Arabic and Kurdish is a must.

Job Summary
Accounting Manager oversees the financial activities and operations of the centres. They advise on investment plans, monitor the corporation’s finances, and produce financial reports. They work closely with upper management to develop and implement strategies and plans to achieve the corporation’s long-term objectives. The general accounting manager position is located at the corporate office, supervising the CAD team. The accounting manager uses their in-depth analytical skills to help the upper management understand the financial health of the corporation for improved decision-making. Accounting managers use data analysis techniques to advise upper management on profit maximization strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the corporate accounting department of the centres
  • Examining financial statements and reporting
  • Managing accounting operations systems
  • Investigate internal systems and protocols to generate reports as required

  • Ensure that there is an effective system for accurate, reliable, and timeous financial reporting
  • Scrutinize the entire accounting operation of the corporation
  • Prepare interim, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the upper management
  • Review accounting department accounts and ensure that they are submitted timeously
  • Develop procedures detailing the compilation of short-, medium- and long-term cash flow
  • Oversee the compilation of the information, and monitor and track the results on an ongoing basis
  • Develop relations with the bank managers and other external providers of the corporation
  • Assist in the development of policies, procedures, and strategies for the corporation
  • Ensure that there are enough funds to finance the activities of the corporation
  • Monitor income and expenditure by scrutinizing relevant information from the employees
  • Provide input to ensure that effective budgetary control is occurring
  • Clear and resolve issues reported on by auditors where applicable
  • Co-ordinate audit activities for accounting department audit and external audit
  • Supervise the accounting department through informal and formal discussions
  • Manage staff performance through implementing the performance management system and using it as fully as possible
  • Submit employee performance reports to upper management
  • Provide ongoing training and development

Key Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 or more years of previous work experience in another financial role, such as an accountant, financial analyst, or accounting manager
  • Proven knowledge of financial analysis and strategy
  • The position requires a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business studies, or a related field
  • Additional qualifications might include an advanced management degree (e.g., master in the related field, master of business administration, master of health administration)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards, and industry legislation
  • Must have experience with accounting software, statistical analysis tools, and other industry-specific applications
  • Effective data trending, document control, and technical skills
  • Awareness of the industry’s latest technology trends and applications
  • Strong problem-solving, training, team-building, and mentoring abilities
  • Language skills: Arabic, English, Kurdish
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite (especially Microsoft excel) and software applications
  • Ability to work with a team, autonomously and under pressure
