mselect is looking to hire a Financial Controller for an FMCG client in Baghdad, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience within the manufacturing or FMCG Sector. Fluency in English is a must.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Management & Reporting:
  • Oversee all financial activities, including accounting, reporting, and compliance
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Ensure timely consolidation and reporting of financial data for management review
  • Provide financial insights and variance analysis to support decision-making
2. Budgeting & Forecasting:
  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts
  • Monitor actual performance against budgets and identify key variances to ensure alignment
  • Recommend corrective actions and cost optimisation measures
3. Costing & Inventory Control:
  • Oversee cost accounting processes for raw materials, production, and packaging
  • Monitor production efficiency, material usage, and wastage levels
  • Ensure accurate valuation and reconciliation of inventory and cost of goods sold (COGS)
4. Cash Flow & Treasury Management:
  • Manage company cash flow, liquidity, and working capital
  • Supervise bank operations, including fund transfers, reconciliations, and loan servicing
  • Develop strategies to improve cash flow and optimise financial resources
5. Internal Controls & Compliance:
  • Implement and monitor internal financial controls, policies, and procedures to ensure effective financial management
  • Ensure compliance with tax, audit, and statutory reporting requirements
  • Liaise with auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities
  • Safeguard company assets through effective risk management practices
6. Team Leadership & Development:
  • Supervise and guide the accounting team, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in daily operations
  • Provide coaching and training to enhance team capability and financial discipline
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement
7. Team Leadership & Development:
  • Partner with management to assess financial implications of operational decisions
  • Support business expansion, capital investment, and cost-efficiency initiatives
  • Develop financial models and feasibility studies for strategic projects

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar finance role within the Manufacturing or FMCG sector
  • Good knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, and cost control
  • Experience in factory costing, inventory control, and profit margin analysis
  • Ability to prepare monthly financial reports, budgets, and forecasts
  • Understanding of IFRS and local accounting practices
  • Experience in cash flow management and day-to-day financial operations
  • Ability to handle month-end and year-end closing
  • Good working knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate with management
  • Fluency in English is required
  • Professional certifications (ACCA, CPA, CMA) are an advantage
