mselect is looking to hire a DGS Petroleum Engineer for an international oil & gas operator in Basrah. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience with a strong background in degassing station operations covering rigless and workover operations, ESP operation and troubleshooting, and surveillance activities. English and Arabic fluency is a must
 
Role synopsis:
The role is a Degassing Station Petroleum Engineer (DGS PE) in the Subsurface Base Management South team. The DGS PE will be the primary focal point for ensuring safe & optimum performance of wells located within DGS. This includes daily monitoring, maintaining all the well models updated, and identifying optimization and well-work opportunities.
 
Key responsibilities:
  • Review & monitor all online wells on daily basis. Flag ceased/ tripped/ problematic wells
  • Maintain Prosper Models (NF and ESP)
  • Build new well Prosper models (NF and ESP)
  • Identify optimization opportunities and review it with DGS lead/ Snr PE
  • Seek out WW opportunities – review complex opportunities with DGS Lead / Snr PE. Progress potential opportunities, and work with Reservoir Management, and Well Work team to deliver quality SoRs
  • Identify required surveillance jobs and highlight to the lead PE
  • Optimize well set points (maximize production subject to relevant constraints) – update field database as required
  • Update opportunities hopper with WW ideas
  • DGS Performance Review and Presentation (2x per year)
  • Participate in Mini Well Reviews / Panel Reviews (lead some discussions)
  • Monitoring well losses including LTSI wells - help to reconcile unexplained daily losses
  • Interfacing with other Base Management Teams, Operations and Wells departments
 
Criteria & Qualifications:
  • Essential education: University Degree in Petroleum Engineering, or equivalent experience
Experience:
  • At least 4 years’ experience with a strong background in degassing station operations covering rigless and workover operations, ESP operation and troubleshooting, and surveillance activities (such as PTA analyses, well testing, PLTs/ ILTs, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Integrated Production Modelling software mainly Prosper and in ESP modelling
  • Ability to work and communicate with the multiple levels
Languages:
  • Fluent in English and Arabic
Travel requirement:
  • Yes, and as per the department requirement
Working time schedule:
  • Rotational (14 days on, 14 days off)
