Job Summary
The Senior Well Service Engineer is responsible for well engineering activities related to well services operations, including upper completions, well interventions, and workover operations. Key responsibilities include the preparation of well programs, ensuring technical integrity, managing MOC and deviations, planning and scheduling activities, and driving performance improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- HSSE: (1) Ensures compliance with organizational policies and standards; (2) Identifies high risk situations, review risk analysis, and adopts risk mitigation approach to the program and discuss with WS Team; (3) Leads in HSE and non-conformance event investigations and reporting as required
- Communication: (1) Daily communication with the WS Operations team discussing program changes and being proactive in improvement suggestions; (2) Communicates Management of Change (MOC) and Deviation requirements and ensures approvals in place
- Ensures that key projects and engineering activities are delivered in accordance with requirements
- Assigns tasks to engineers and oversees execution of assigned responsibilities
- Provides engineering expertise, experience, and leadership to the Well Services department
- Review the well services programs including full contribution and QA/QC to ensure highest standard generated by Engineering Team.
- Manage continuous improvement through integration of learnings, best practice and benchmarking data
- Coordinates in-house and external technical support for well services activities
- Reviews required AFEs related to well services operations
- Performs QA/QC of all pre-job technical calculations within well programs
- Provides daily engineering and troubleshooting support to the Well Services Operations team
- Supports the training and mentoring of local and junior engineering staff
- Liaise with Service Providers and Contractors with regards to inventory and equipment needs aligned with short-term and long-term Rig/Well scheduling and planning
- Must be flexible to support extended operations beyond a normal working day when required
- Be proactive in anticipating well ops challenges and quick and effective when reacting to issues
- Preparing programs/AFEs, as well as reviewing them
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Minimum 15 years’ experience, including completions, workovers, stimulation and well intervention operations as an Engineering level whereas at least substantial amount spent as supervisor level
- Safety courses required to carry out work at site and in accordance with company policy and as required by Country law and regulations
- Must be able to work with a team, take directions from line manager(s), and focus attention to details
- Must be self-motivated and capable of working with limited direct supervision
- Must be capable of completing and tracking multiple tasks simultaneously, and often under tight deadlines
- Detailed understanding of best industry practice on engineering of well integrity during well service operations
- Ability to solve complex problems in an innovative and cost-effective manner
- Ability to work effectively with others
- Good communication skills
- Can work in a multi-national environment
- Demonstrates commitment to HSSE policy and statement and knows and understands expectations as detailed in the HSSE Management System
