Job Purpose
This role acts as the focal point for business process support and issue resolution, ensuring end-users can effectively perform their project-related activities within SAP and other VP systems in accordance with established timelines. Liaise with ICT to communicate business requirements, system enhancements, and process changes, promoting the efficient and effective utilisation of business applications. The role is responsible for the continuous assessment, improvement, and optimisation of business processes and systems, identifying opportunities for enhancement and recommending suitable solutions. It also involves evaluating business needs, supporting the implementation of system and process improvements, and ensuring initiatives align with the Directorate’s strategic objectives and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate first-line support to engineering departments of PEPS end-users to ensure that VP Systems operational support is provided to meet the end-user’s requirements
- Prepare business cases and detailed business requirements to implement new improvement initiatives and obtain "buy-in" from SME’s/stakeholders for the automation of business processes
- Conduct gap and data analysis on business processes to identify bottlenecks, constraints, dependencies, risks and opportunities for improvement, automation and integration between SAP PS, ES and relevant modules and systems
- Liaise with ICT on new requirements, current and future system support needs, to ensure enhancement of functionalities and optimal utilisation of all systems
- Facilitate in resolving cross-functional business analysis issues across the VP and other directorates to enhance departmental and organisational processes and procedures
- Coordinate user acceptance test (UAT), data migration of SAP PS modules and all systems in the PEPS Directorate
- Provide SAP data and perform a data integrity check to conduct data analysis of business processes performance and maturity
- Data modelling: Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets

Decision-Making Authority
- Operates within the framework of established corporate policies and departmental procedures. Normally works independently, but at times work is reviewed by the head process & system to the extent of broad review and approval
- Under general supervision, ensure that improvement of processes, business requirements and testing of application solutions are carried out and implemented in accordance with set parameters and agreed timelines
- Encounter situations where several solutions may be possible, requiring reasonable analysis and judgment, referring the more complicated ones to a supervisor. Errors in judgments or decisions could impact the delay for the implementation of solutions, over-expenditure and overall impact on the PEPS Directorate to perform its business as mandated.
- Under general supervision, review and propose amendments to processes and procedures which have an overall implication on activities performed by staff at various levels
Context/Special Features/Challenges
- Frequent contacts with various internal stakeholders within the directorate, including subject matter experts (SME’s), technical experts, project managers, and liaison with external stakeholders from other directorates and departments
- Ability to work with no or minimal supervision by exploring opportunities for business process improvements and facilitating the implementation of solutions within tight deadlines
- Ability to evaluate and understand complex multi-disciplinary technical and engineering concepts and to translate them into fully functional requirements and documentation
- Ability to resolve business problems through critical analysis, employing a variety of tools such as process and data modelling, root cause analysis, etc
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's level degree in Business, Computer, Information Science or a related field
- Eight (8) years of experience in a business environment with specific exposure in Business Process and Data Analysis relating to Project Management required, preferably in the oil and gas industry
- Must have strong experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms, and creating/running simulations
- Experience in statistical and data mining techniques (Data Mining, Cleaning and Munging) to mine and analyse data from company databases, ERP, and other legacy data sources/systems to drive optimisation techniques and business strategies
- Experience in Data Visualisation, dashboard and reporting using Data Visualisation Tools such as (Power BI, Tableau, SAS, Python, etc.) with experience using web services and cloud tools
- Knowledge of master data object definitions and models would be an advantage
- Knowledge in Business Process Analysis, Modelling, Optimising, and Workflow automation
- Experience in business process analysis, modelling, notation, process improvement methodologies, optimisation strategies and statistical process control
- Experience in documentation and diagramming approaches used to describe typical business components, including entity relationship diagrams, process diagrams, and workflow diagrams
- Good exposure of Project Management principles and practices
- Thorough understanding of Business Process management and ability to plan/conduct a study and document the results
- Expert proficiency in using MS Office suite applications, MS SharePoint and Power BI
