Job Summary
The Senior Project Engineer will manage the technical execution of projects from design to commissioning, ensuring compliance with safety standards, budgets, and schedules. The role serves as the central technical liaison between multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors, overseeing FEED and detailed engineering for upstream/downstream projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering a clearly defined and complete proposal package, including detailed project scope of work, estimate, schedule, CTRs and other supporting documentation as required for the successful kick-off of the project
- Single-point responsibility for managing identified project interfaces and ensuring that all applicable information is captured to enable the engineers to propose a complete project design, with manageable brownfield integration risk and greenfield boundary definitions
- Managing technical queries & bid clarifications during engineering, and coordinating responses
- Managing cost, schedule and delivery during the engineering and procurement process
- Managing the technical bid evaluation process and production of the technical bid evaluation report
- Ensuring that the overall project is delivered to meet the asset's operational needs
- Coordinating and participating in all project safety and design reviews as necessary
- Ensuring that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule
- Arranging and participating in all project safety, design and constructability reviews
- Provide timely technical support and resolve site-related queries
- Ensure zero-defect delivery and maintain high-quality project standards
- Adhere strictly to project procedures, processes, and documentation requirements
- Establishing work orders, WBS Structure, and alignment of proposals & CTR development with an emphasis on scope development
- Support project delivery in line with agreed schedules and milestones
- Prepare and maintain weekly project dashboards and progress reports
- Develop work order proposals, including scope definition and deliverables
- Coordinate with planning engineers to prepare and maintain baseline project schedules
- Monitor and manage project schedules to ensure timely execution
- Provide accurate reporting on the status and progress of active work orders
- Demonstrate proactive safety leadership and promote safe working behaviours across project activities
- Work order proposal: development of delivery strategy, WBS and review of the completed CTR’s
- Schedule approval: work with the planning team to produce a baseline schedule for client approval
- Work order kick-off meetings: prepare for and manage the kick-off meetings in accordance with project procedures
- Change Management: Ensure any potential changes and variations are managed on time with the client's approval and in accordance with the approved process
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum of +15 years of relevant experience in similar roles, including project execution experience
- Strong knowledge of oil and gas engineering standards, HSE regulations, construction practices, and technical specifications
- Experience in managing multidisciplinary projects from FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning stages
- Proficiency in project management and engineering software/tools; PMP certification or equivalent is considered an advantage
- Bridging engineering, design, project controls & safety
- Assurance of project delivery within scope, budget and schedule
- Adherence to industry technical standards
- Strong leadership skills, ability to motivate and manage teams
- Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with all stakeholders
- Ability to identify and resolve issues effectively, ensuring no compromise to both progress and quality
- Interaction and communication with all discipline personnel within the department is essential
- Identifying areas of improvement to contractors' schedules, always identifying SIMOPS and ensuring HSE compliance
