mselect is looking to hire a Senior Offshore Surveyor Engineer for a national oil and gas operator in Doha, Qatar. Candidates must have a minimum of 12 years of experience in the oil & gas related industry on offshore topographic survey operations. Fluency in English is a must.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, plan and programme for the offshore surveying activities of the Offshore Projects Department, which includes geophysical, geotechnical, ROV and oceanographic surveys; Responsible for the definition, contracting, execution and acceptance of the offshore survey data for the projects
  • Safe execution of all offshore surveying and data acquisition activities
  • Defines, monitors, and ensures the quality and standards of all offshore survey processes, ensuring they deliver maximum value and align with organisational objectives
  • Satisfies both short-term and long-term offshore survey requirements for offshore field support across assigned fields, and provides appropriate end-user technical support
  • Support the selection of suitable equipment, field devices, and other surveying-specific systems as per design, evaluate options and select the best techno-economic solutions for project facilities
  • Provide technical input and prepare project-specific survey scope for the tenders and procurement activities, and draw up related technical bid evaluation criteria; Participate in the evaluation of technical bid proposals and provide survey-related input
  • Coordinates all survey activities, including geophysical, geotechnical, oceanography, and ROV operations, related to FEED and EPIC contracts executed by the PO department; Represents the organisation’s interests and resolves survey-related technical queries, including interpretation of scope, specifications, and standards
  • Control and witness the mobilisation of geophysical, geotechnical, oceanographic, ROV, environmental survey vessels and survey equipment calibration activities; Evaluate and approve the offshore survey equipment and survey personnel for the proposed work
  • Monitor the performance of contractors and sub-contractors engaged in, or proposed for, the acquisition of survey-related data; Ensure that the survey data received from contractors is acquired and produced in accordance with the approved specifications and quality plans
  • Review and approve survey-related deliverables from the survey contractor related to the engineering and construction activities of offshore projects (covering jacket, platforms, pipeline, cable and all other surface and subsea structures) and manage project-specific geo-referenced databases; Ensure that GIS data integrity is maintained
  • Provide technical input related to surveys during FEED, detailed engineering, pre-installation and post-installation, and as-built stages of the project and monitor the implementation of QA/QC processes, to achieve deliverables and facilities that meet project requirements
  • Support the safety and design reviews in coordination with lead engineers and other stakeholders
  • Supports the development of employees by ensuring they receive appropriate job training and development

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree/Post Graduate Diploma in Hydrographic Surveying or equivalent
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in the Oil & Gas related Industry on Offshore Topographic Survey operations
  • Of the 12 years of experience, a minimum of 7 years should have been as a party chief surveyor in a major project in a reputable Survey Contractor, EPIC Contractor or Oil & Gas Company
  • Fully familiar with international surveying codes, standards, surveying techniques and survey software; Familiar with all types of FEED and EPIC deliverables, equipment, design and construction progress reviews
  • Experienced in the implementation of industry best practices and the company's systems, processes, and standards
  • Fundamental knowledge to the level of "proficient" in Offshore Surveying; Strong technical, communication and presentation skills
  • Project management, conflict resolution and negotiating skills
  • Good understanding of safety, environmental and QA/QC requirements and implications of non-compliance
