mselect is looking to hire a Senior Logistics Sales Specialist for a logistics client in Basrah, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics sales, freight forwarding, or supply chain business development. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must; proficiency in Kurdish is an advantage.

Job Summary
The Senior Logistics Sales Specialist is responsible for driving business growth by acquiring new customers, developing strategic client relationships, and achieving sales targets across logistics and supply chain services. The role focuses on securing key accounts, generating long-term business opportunities, and expanding the company’s presence within the logistics market. The position requires strong knowledge of freight forwarding, transportation, warehousing, customs clearance, and supply chain solutions, along with a proven ability to generate revenue through consultative selling and relationship management. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication, negotiation, and commercial skills, with the ability to thrive in a competitive, target-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development & Lead Generation:
  • Identify and target potential customers through market research, networking, industry events, referrals, and business intelligence
  • Develop new business opportunities focusing on large accounts, industrial projects, government tenders, and long-term logistics contracts
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline to ensure continuous business growth
  • Conduct client meetings, cold calls, site visits, and email campaigns to generate qualified leads
2. Client Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, decision-makers, and key stakeholders
  • Understand customer business requirements and provide customised logistics solutions
  • Act as the primary point of contact for major clients and ensure high customer satisfaction levels
  • Maintain regular follow-up with existing clients to strengthen long-term partnerships and identify cross-selling opportunities
3. Sales Strategy & Planning:
  • Execute sales plans based on the company’s national sales strategy and targets
  • Analyse market trends, customer demands, competitor activities, and industry developments to identify growth opportunities
  • Support management in expanding market share across freight forwarding, transportation, warehousing, customs clearance, and supply chain services
  • Contribute to branch sales forecasting and business development planning
4. Proposal Preparation & Solution Selling:
  • Prepare professional commercial proposals, quotations, and presentations tailored to customer requirements
  • Coordinate with operations and pricing teams to design competitive and profitable logistics solutions
  • Present logistics capabilities and service advantages to potential customers
  • Ensure proposals meet client expectations while maintaining company profitability targets
5. Negotiation & Contract Closing:
  • Lead negotiations with clients regarding pricing, service scope, payment terms, and contractual agreements
  • Secure profitable business deals and long-term contracts
  • Ensure all agreements comply with company policies, operational capabilities, and financial objectives
  • Follow up on pending quotations and convert opportunities into confirmed business
6. Market Intelligence & Industry Awareness:
  • Stay updated on logistics industry trends, shipping regulations, transportation developments, and market conditions
  • Monitor competitor activities, pricing strategies, and customer requirements
  • Provide regular market feedback and recommendations to management for improving competitiveness and service offerings
  • Identify emerging business sectors and new trade lanes with growth potential
7. Customer Experience & Service Improvement:
  • Gather customer feedback regarding service quality, operational performance, and customer satisfaction
  • Coordinate with internal departments to resolve customer concerns efficiently
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and customer retention
  • Promote a customer-centric approach across all business interactions
8. Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, meetings, quotations, and customer communications
  • Prepare periodic sales performance reports, pipeline updates, and market analysis reports for management review
  • Monitor achievement against assigned sales targets and KPIs
9. Cross-Functional Coordination:
  • Collaborate closely with operations, customer service, finance, and other teams to ensure smooth execution of logistics services
  • Coordinate with marketing teams to support campaigns, exhibitions, and promotional activities
  • Support branch management in implementing sales initiatives and business expansion plans

Requirements

Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred in business management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Marketing, or a related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in logistics sales, freight forwarding, or supply chain business development
  • Strong knowledge of logistics services, including Air Freight, Sea Freight, Land Transportation, Customs Clearance, Warehousing, and 3PL solutions
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and securing major accounts (important)
  • An existing customer network and strong market connections are highly preferred (important)
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in a target-driven environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems
  • Fluent in English and Arabic; Kurdish is an advantage
