mselect is looking to hire a QC Inspector (Welding, NDT and Painting) for a national oil and gas operator in Doha, Qatar. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of relevant oil and gas industry experience in a similar role. Fluency in English is a must.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake familiarisation with project specifications and function-specific inspection documentation to ensure understanding of contract requirements
  • Implement quality inspection procedures on construction activities, suppliers, and subcontractors’ work to ensure compliance with project specifications and other technical requirements
  • Closely follow the 90 Days look-ahead Schedule, daily work & RFI schedules, liaise with functional focal point and contractor personnel to be aware of the planned and completed welding/NDT/painting activities planned on-site/off-site and undertake quality surveillance/witnessing according to the approved ITPs
  • Verify the availability of the latest and approved documents/drawings/qualification ID cards/calibration certificates, at the place where welding/NDT/painting
  • Witness qualification and testing of welding/NDT/WPHT procedures, RTRP/painting/coating systems, welders/NDT technicians/blasters/painters/laminators, etc, and sign off on the RFIs and qualification records
  • In-Process, stage and final inspection of welding/NDT/painting activities, RT films review, witness weld repairs and review welding/NDT/painting completion for piping spools and test packs
  • Monitor Weekly Welding/NDT status and Welder’s performance
  • Monitor the storage tanks/piping/pipeline components, paints & welding consumables traceability to MTCs and storage/preservation as per the manufacturer's recommendations/approved procedures
  • Surveillance of on-site and off-site structural/piping/pipeline/storage tanks related welding/NDT/painting/coating activities, to identify potential or actual non-conformances and to assist the contractor in taking necessary corrective and preventive actions
  • Provide feedback to the functional supervisor on recurring quality observations or lapses, and follow up on corrections and corrective actions to close out the observations and NCRs
  • Ensure that equipment used for inspection, measuring, and testing has a valid calibration as per approved project procedures
  • Assist functional supervisor in review and/or approval of quality and construction documentation, including method statements, JHAs, QCPs, inspection and test plans, MARs, etc., and attend quality walkthroughs
  • Monitor the functioning and performance of contactor/sub-contractor/third-party inspectors and provide necessary support/guidance, where improvement is needed
  • Communicate effectively with the contractor, third parties and construction team at your level
  • Implements and enforces the elements of the quality management system applicable to the role
  • Works predominantly on construction sites, with exposure to prevailing climatic conditions for the majority of 80% the time
  • Ensures personal safety and the safety of others who may be affected by business activities, whether under direct control or not

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or Equivalent)
  • Senior Welding Inspector Certification (CSWIP 3.2/AWS-SCWI), Painting Inspector Certification (BGAS Grade-2/NACE Level-2) and NDT Level-2 Certification in RT, MT, UT and PT (ASNT/ACCP) is a must. Equivalent International Certifications are acceptable
  • Having API 570/API 936/RTRP and other API Inspector Certifications will be an advantage
  • Preferably having formal training in QA/QC functional aspects and QMS internal Auditor
  • 10 years’ experience for graduate engineers and 15 years’ experience for diploma holders in a similar position in the Oil & Gas sector. Experience in GCC is desirable
  • Sound working knowledge in Welding/NDT/Heat Treatment/Painting/Coating and associated Quality/Inspection/Testing requirements and acceptance criteria related to the construction of major oil & gas Process Plants and Cross-Country Pipelines construction
  • Familiar with international codes, standards, and practices relevant to the job function (ASTM, API, AWS, ISO, BS EN, SSPC, NACE, IOGP, Shell DEP, MESC spec, etc)
  • Hands-on experience in Qualification, Testing and performance monitoring of Welding/NDT/Heat treatment Procedures, RTRP/Painting/Coating systems, Welders/NDT technicians/Blasters/Painters/Laminators, etc
  • Experience in Welding of different materials/metallurgies, including exotic materials (Inconel, DSS, SDSS, Ni, Cr, etc.) and Welding Processes
