Key Responsibilities
- Select, recommend, and inspect painting and coating materials required for pipelines, piping, and equipment, based on applicable types of coating systems, applications, and methods
- Implement relevant ISO/Manufacturers standardization society standard practice (MSS SP)/NACE standards
- Review all coating specifications, painting and coating procedures, and Inspection and test procedures
- Familiar with all the codes and standards related to painting and coating inspection requirements
- Attend the inspection as a witness and hold points as per the approved Quality Control Plan
- Report on the inspections to the QA/QC Coordinator
- Follow up on all Site NCR in responsibility and ensure proper actions and documentation
- Attend the qualification of the coating system qualification test (CPT) and the qualification of painters/blasters
- Attend inspection of painting materials (paints, thinners, solvents, etc.) and related consumables, and monitoring of paint storage/handling
- Attend inspection of insulation materials (cold, hot, metal cladding, etc.) and related consumables
- Coordinate all requests for painting and coating inspections and coordinate the same with the relevant project team members
- Carry out stage-wise inspection for all washing, blasting, painting, and insulation activities, report on them, and assess their compliance with specified acceptance criteria
- Report and follow up on defects and non-conformities raised during the inspections
- Ensure the correct equipment is being used, with proper inspection and certification
- Follow up on the mechanical completion in responsibility
- Verify and close punch items in the responsibility
- Conduct review and approve all painting and coating inspection reports submitted by the contractor during construction and commissioning
- Calibration of measuring equipment
Requirements
- Minimum Higher National Diploma (HND) or Diploma in a technical discipline or equivalent
- Valid certifications to NACE Level II, BGAS-CSWIP Grade I or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the role of Painting/coating Quality Control Inspector in the Oil & Gas Industry, with 5 years of experience after certification
- Minimum 5 years offshore experience
- Shall have good experience in galvanizing, insulation/fire proofing systems/PFP coating/Thermal spray, TSA inspections/subsea pipeline coating/3LPP applications
- Familiar with ISO/NACE/SSPC/NORSOK standards
- Experience in Painting inspection methods and gauges, such as Adhesion/pull off test, Holiday test, DFT Checks, Salt contamination checks, etc
