MSELECT is looking for Payroll Officer for a consultancy client in Erbil to join the HR department. Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll is requested, fluency in English is a must.

Payroll Officer responsibilities include calculating employees’ compensation, updating internal payroll databases and ensuring timely payments. To be successful in this role, you should have a flair for numbers and be able to handle sensitive information in a fast-paced environment. If you’re also familiar with labor legislation, we’d like to meet you. Ultimately, you will help run a smooth and accurate payroll process.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect daily, weekly or monthly timesheets

  • Calculate expenses and allowances

  • Prepare employees’ compensation by the end of each month

  • Schedule bank payments to employees

  • Distribute payment statements

  • Report on payroll expenses

  • Ensure wages, SS and tax comply with regulations

  • Enter new employees’ data (e.g. bank accounts and tax identification numbers) into internal databases

  • Answer employee questions about compensation, benefits, taxes and insurance deductions

  • Compile key operational payroll metrics & dashboards

  • Prepare periodic payroll reconciliation and submit reports to the finance manager for review

Requirements:

  • Over 5 years of experience in Payroll for a large organisation

  • BSc in Accounting, Human Resources or relevant field

  • Hands-on experience with HRIS or accounting software

  • Strong math skills with an ability to spot numerical errors

  • Good knowledge of labour legislation

  • Time-management skills

  • Ability to handle confidential information

  • In-depth knowledge of general accounting principles and payroll best practices

  • Great attention to detail and confidentiality
