mselect is looking for a Lead Modelling Engineer for an international oil & gas operator in Basrah. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas producer company, At least 5 years specifically in network model development. English and Arabic fluency is a must.

Role Synopsis

The purpose of the role is to develop in-house digital skillsets aimed to cover all the modeling requirements (PROSPER, GAP Models). Lead the in-house GAP modeling development. Be the point of contact for building and managing GAP models to allow full field system optimization. Maintain the workflows up and running.

Key Accountabilities
  • Be the point of contact for building and managing GAP models to allow full-field system optimization
  • Maintain the GAP models up and running
  • Develop the local workforce up to international standards for the PETEX suite
  • The candidate needs to be able to work and communicate with other departments in the organization (Operation, Wells, Production team, and reservoir teams) both locally (in Basra) and abroad, so a good level of English is essential
  • Participation in meetings, with the ability to interact and present, if required
  • Mentor junior engineers

Criteria and Qualifications
  • Essential education: University Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering
  • Knowledge of Standard Petroleum Engineering Applications (PROSPER, GAP, etc.)
  • Petroleum Experience: At least 10+ years in an oil and gas producer company. At least 5 years specifically in network model development (GAP)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work within a multicultural environment
  • Languages: Arabic, Fluent in English
  • Knowledge of Data Science and PowerBI is a plus
  • Full understanding of all activities that take place in a major field

Rotation
  • Daily (5/2 or 6/1)
